For the first in a long time, a Deaf person has won an Oscar! in fact, he was the FIRST DEAF MAN to ever win an Oscar! While, that is wonderful triumph for Disables Representation in Hollywood it still leaves out the other half of The Hearing Loss Community! But, as Hard of Hearing Person with no Sign Language background I should not surprise by this, because part of being Hard of Hearing means you'll be in the Deaf Shadows!! I mean think about it, when Chris Pratt offended the Hearing Loss Community he apologized in ASL with NO CAPTIONS! I am Hard of Hearing, I rely on Captioning to get by, unlike others in the Hearing Loss Community I don't ASL to fall back on because I don't know it!
