Everything was just as usual…..
Parthiv was a happy young teen who was loved by everyone in school and home. He was from a well off family. His father being a rich business man, he didn't have to worry about his studies, even then he wanted to live a life of his own.
His father leaves home early and returns late at night…his grandparents are the ones who spend most of the time with him….and he teaches them a thing or two which he learns from school.Science was a subject he was very weak on…but when it came to Math he was a pure genius.
Then it was just natural that he loved puzzles
But everything in his life changed from this moment forth….his happiness..his life….and most importantly his REALITY
It was one fine Saturday afternoon…the birds were chirping..tasty aroma of spicy indian foods spread the streets which were prepared by women in the houses…and Parthiv did what he usually does in his holidays..
Solving puzzles…
sudokos, crosswords, maths problems, riddles..and all sorts of stuff
Today's puzzle was a Rubik's cube, and even though he had solved it a hundred times…today was something special..he was waiting for a 12 sided cube he had ordered online….
The doorbell rang just as Parthiv was about to complete solving his cube. He rushed to the door eagerly before his grandmother could return from the kitchen..just as he had expected, it was the same delivery guy who delivered all his online orders
*DELIVERY GUY : Hi Parthiv….how r u…..so what did u order this time
*PARTHIV: Hi Uncle….I'm doing good...this time it is a 12 sided cube
By the look on the delivery guy's face…Parthiv sensed confusion in him
*PARTHIV : What happened uncle?
*DELIVERY GUY : You have got two parcels Parthiv…
Parthiv too was equally confused
*PARTHIV THINKING IN HIS MIND WHILE GETTING THE PARCELS : There is no chance the second parcel is for father….he doesn't like buying things from online..maybe I just got lucky with getting someone else's order.
He hurries of to his room and unwraps the one, having a cube symbol in it….he stares in awe at the GREAT MEGAMINX…..his long dream to buy it had happened at last….he was so excited with this cube that he started shuffling and started to solve it, not realising there was one more parcel to check
It's already getting dark..…after having dinner he returns to his room, now noticing the untouched parcel in his table. He is both scared and excited at the same time. The parcel itself is in the size and shape of a cube, so it was safe for him to assume that it could be just another Rubik's cube.
Slowly he starts unwrapping the brown cover of the parcel….with each passing moment he stares at the confusing object inside it.
It was a pink box with a lid, hardly the size of a Rubik's cube….it also had a small plastic flower attached to the lid…so by the looks of it….it was safe to assume that it was some kind of a gift box.
Eager to know what was in it, he tried opening the lid.
Nothing happened…
He tried to turn it and pull it all he could…but it just wouldn't open. After trying for a few minutes, he gave up frustrated. He was already feeling sleepy and wanted to get some rest. So he placed the wierd gift box next to his bed and was fast asleep.
It is always said that great discoveries are discovered in one's dreams
Eventhough it was not a Noble Prize winning discovery, Parthiv in his long sleep was trying to figure out a way to open this item….he dreams trying to pull the lid in different directions..nothing is working…then he starts checking the box at different angles top...front...left….right...back..
At that moment, he knew he missed something. He jumped upright in his bed and woke up from his sleep. He checked the clock hanging in the wall and it was already 2 am.
His father seemed to have had arrived and had already ate dinner and slept….so were his grandparents who were fast asleep since when he went to sleep early.
Now the only thing in his mind was that pink box
*THINKING : I forgot to check the bottom of the box
He grabs the box from his table and makes himself comfortably seated in his bed. He starts checking the box again and now he positions it so that he has a better view of it's bottom side.
*PARTHIV : I knew it... something must be done here..
But he was still confused…
There was a strange eye symbol on the bottom of the box..he tried rubbing and pushing the symbol, still nothing happened.
So he lay in his bed with the gift box close to his face, observing the image inscribed in it carefully. His hand slipped and the gift box fell right on his spectacles with the bottom side facing his eyes.
Then a flash of blue light hit his eyes and disappeared. It looked as if the eye symbol had somehow scanned his eyes. With a small creaking sound, the lid seemed to have opened a little.
He got up and sat with legs crossed in his bed. The strange pink box was in front of him.
It took almost no effort to open the box now. There was a black card with some message in it. He took the card and read what was in it.
His life from here on has changed….maybe FOREVER
