1804 Wars & Benny……
#WritcoStoryPrompt37
The severely malnourished child was on the verge of death. I quickly set up an IV to give him much needed nutrition and other supplements.
Hours later when he was stable I turned in anger upon the illiterate parents. " Why are you starving this child? He needs proper food! "
Tears dropped down the broken, skeletal man who stood before me with folded hands. "Look around you, Doctor Sahib, the land is dead. We have no food." This is a dark time, people killing people and people stealing food what do you want me to do? I have no money. It was a cold night the year was 1804 in Poland 7 year old Benny was fighting for his life, his parents were Francesca & Albert Vonilla they had 15 kids and they all lived in Poland there kids ranged from 3 years old to 18 years old. Mr. Vonilla was working at this plantation for 15 years but as he got older he couldn’t work anymore… Mrs. Vonilla was a stay at home mother and did side jobs on the side to make ends meet but it was hard especially since Mr Vonilla was laid off. Times were hard, it was a cold rainy day and kids were hungry & whining, Francesca looked in the cupboard too see what they had and they didn’t have much but there was a can of green beans, rice, and there was some cream of chicken soup so she made green beans added some rice and seasoning and opened the cream of mushroom. there wasn’t alot available especially with 12 kids at the moment she had too feed plus herself. It was very stressful, next thing she knows she hears aloud noise and her kitchen window is shattered someone on the streets thru a brick through the window. Mr. Vonilla was at the hospital with Benny he was getting the strength he needs he wasn’t allowed to return home till he was healthier than he was….
2 years went by and the town settled down the war was coming to a stop. there was work starting back up and things were getting better. Mr & Mrs. Vonilla swore that they would never let it get that hard again… Ever!!!
