Pant has been under scrutiny since the 2019 World Cup
After making a strong India debut, Rishabh Pant has been under immense scrutiny in the past year for his poor form and injudicious shot selection, even though the young wicketkeeper-batsman has received contact backing from the team management and senior players. Out-of-favor India batsman Suresh Raina is the latest cricketer to back Pant.

Talking to leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in an Instagram live session, Raina likened Rishabh Pant to the former destructive batsman Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh.

“He is a top cricketer when he plays well, you become happy and he reminds of Yuvraj (Singh) and Sehwag (Virender), he is as dominant as them," Raina said.

"When he plays the flick, it reminds you of Dravid (Rahul Dravid) as well,” Raina told Chahal.

In India's last limited-overs matches KL Rahul has been keeping wickets for India, thus forcing Rishabh Pant out of the squad for another middle-order batsman Manish Pandey.

Recently, India opener Rohit Sharma said Rishabh Pant was under pressure because of all the criticism over his playing style and said he tried to comfort the 22-year-old with some senior-junior talk.

"I keep trying to talk to the guys as much as I can. I talk a lot to Rishabh Pant," Rohit Sharma had said while talking to Yuvraj Singh.

"He came under a lot of scrutiny recently. He's just 20 and he became really worried. Apart from Pant, there are five-six people I regularly talk to about these things. This (criticism) will be there as long as you're playing, it's not going to go anywhere."
