Self-Reflection to Mindful Parenting
I don't know if you have come across this video, but if you haven't, let me briefly tell you about it.

In the video, Miss Universe 1997, Nafisa Joseph, is asked a question during her pageant contest: "What do you think is the biggest injustice in the world today?"
And boom! She drops this bombshell: "Bringing a child into this world without offering them peace."

It's been almost three decades since 1997, and here we are halfway through 2024, yet things haven't changed much since her words resonated around the world.

Can we delve deep into these words and address what she was talking about, something we may not have fully understood so far?

I can speak from my Indian background, where people usually have mostly arrange marriages and rarely love marriages. But when it comes to having kids, it's often a mixed bag of planned and unplanned.

Yes, having a baby is entirely fine, have as many as you want. But before becoming a parent, think about whether you are truly ready for it. Unfortunately, there are no entrance exams for parenting (I wish there were), and many people would likely fail if there were, with the qualifying ratio possibly lower than exams like NEET and IIT's. But never mind.

Now, picture a child entering this world, innocent and vulnerable, while the parents call the shots. But hold on a second – Planning to bring a life into this world without addressing your own demons, traumas, insecurities, and financial instability, it's like conducting a science experiment with no safety precautions in place.

Sure, we can deck out our kids with all the material goodies – fancy clothes, top-notch education – but what about the most crucial ingredient? A safe, nurturing environment where they can flourish without the weight of our unresolved issues dragging them down. When you provide such an environment, you are essentially creating replicas of yourselves, and the cycle continues.

So, here's the question – Where does this cycle of dysfunction end, and where's the peace we all yearn for? It's high time we stop, reflect, and truly ponder: Are we ready to break the cycle and pave the way for a brighter, more peaceful future?
