Approaching Discipline
#WritcoStoryPrompt90
Which method of discipline do you prefer, soft or tough? Create a story about the query to back up your response. I prefer the soft approach, but however I do believe it is based on that person, situation, and how the person disciplining approaches it. I was what you would consider the good kid my family. I rarely got into trouble and avoided it at all costs. My mother would even joke that I would cry just by someone giving me a angry look. Which was quite embarrassing when she would just talk everybody that. However my 2 sisters, one older and the other younger, would always get into trouble. Even when my mother would physically discipline them. Which she would only spank us on the bottom with a hand or belt. The was what she believed in because she was beaten a lot by her stepdad as a kid. So I grew up believing in the same thing too. I thought it took patience, reasoning, and understanding. Then when I became mother it seemed fairly easy. Until I had more children. They all come with challenges and they constantly change. And sometimes you don't know how to react or what is the right way to solve it. The thing you need to know and remember is that they are learning and trying to figure things out just like you. Life isn't easy and we should show them and others that violence isn't always the answer. But that is can also help correct some things. For an example. If you see someone getting beaten and another person stands up to the other person, they may back off. Or if a parent is scolding a child for hurting their siblings. It's not always easy figuring out the right way to make things right. It's a balance we must face.
