Staircase Mystery Part 2 (concluding)
Judy Abbott and Carla Hardy, best friends since university and now business partners were looking for a new place to convert into another yoga retreat. They both stood looking at the abandoned Hall while reading the 'for sale' sign.

"Not much to go on." Said Judy. "Just, 'For Sale'. The name of the seller," she peared closely at the name at the bottom of the sale board, "A. Crawley. No phone number, no email or website. Just a postal address." The two women stood among the green fresh vegetation of spring as it pushed aside the dead shriveled foliage of the previous summer.

Just then, a man walking his two Jack Russell terriers came up beside them. "Not thinking of buying that, are you." He pointed towards the derelict building.

"We might." Replied Carla, looking straight ahead and thinking what it had to do with him.

"So, the stories of it being haunted don't put you off!"

Judy turned to the man and pointing to both herself and Carla, with a smile, answered."We don't believe in ghosts."

Staring at them, he simply said. "You will do!" Then looking down at his dogs, he pulled them away.

"Well, he was a strange one. Do you think they are all like him, around here?" Said Judy. Carla just shrugged her shoulders. "Come on let's have a look around outside, before we write to A. Crawley.

They both went tramping through the overgrown, rutted ground before coming to the front door of the Hall. The door was flanked by two neo-classical columns. Nothing from the outside gave away what was hidden inside. Judy and Carla went along the side of the Hall, trying to look through the windows. But years of grime hindered this venture, so they gave up.
