Taking a deep breath, I averted my eyes first to the side, then looked up and slightly squinting, waited a pause, showing the interlocutor that I had started the thinking process and it would take me a couple of seconds to think. Usually I could make a decision in just a couple of seconds. And at the moment it was my personal best, although I remember when the same thing took me four.
