THE SWAN’S FIRST FLIGHT

There was once a bevy of swans that lived near a swamp some time ago, amongst them was a mama swan and her three baby birds. The head of the bevy of swans decided that their flock was expanding and that they had to move away. All the mama birds were expected to teach their babies how to fly as soon as possible so they could all fly out of there. The mama swan tried to teach her babies how to fly and two of them quickly picked it up but the last one wouldn’t even try.
“ I don’t look like a swan mama, and I’m terrified of flying “ the last swan said and it was right, it didn’t look like a regular swan it looked a little like a duck
“You might look different little one but I assure you, you are a swan and you can fly” said the mama swan but the baby swan refused to try.

The mama swan tried her best but her baby swan wouldn’t try to fly and it was time for the other swans to take flight. She bid them farewell including her two other baby swans because she couldn’t bear to leave the last one behind. Years came and went and the baby swan grew up into a beautiful white swan, it lived in the swamp with its mother till she died out of old age but it still didn’t know how to fly.

One day the swan noticed that a duck had moved into the swamp and was floating around on the water. The duck and the swan became fast friends and after a while the duck gathered the courage and asked the swan “My dear friend you’re a majestic swan so why are you floating around here with a duck like me?”

“ I never learned to fly” the swan replied.

“You need to believe in yourself, spread your wings and fly. Let go of your fear. You are a swan!!”

“I am a swan!, I am a swan!” The swan said repeatedly and spread his wings and began to flutter them, as it did it began to rise into the air and began to float and then it flew into the air

“I’m doing it, I’m doing it “ the swan shouted to the duck from the sky. It then grounded itself and thanked and hugged the duck

“Thank you dear friend, if only my mother could see me now. Finally I can go look for my bevy and find my brothers and sisters “ it said

The swan stayed a couple of days with the duck and perfected its flying skills and then flew into the sunset to find its brothers and sisters.

The End.
