Jesus and the 1st Commandment
1st commandment. 1️⃣
Against idolatry:
Deuteronomy 5:7
[7]Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
Jesus reiterated the Shema, that God is only One:
Deuteronomy 6:4-5
[4]Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:☝️
[5]And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

He revealed that the Son and the Father are One God:
John 17:21-22
[21]That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 🌏☄️🛂
[22]And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 💫
He added that believing God is believing Him also because God is working in Him:
John 14:10-11
[10]Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

[11]Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

When Jesus said I Am, God was already speaking through Him which the Jews did not understand:
John 7:28-29
[28]Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.🙏
[29]But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

The Jews during that time cannot understand what He said because He only regarded Him as a man despite of His miracles:
John 8:57-59
[57]Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?👴
[58]Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.🅰️🅾️
[59]Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

To resist idolatry, He amplified that one must love God emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually,
Mark 12:29-31
[29]And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
[30]And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
