An ignored asset
Mental health....well it is something which is very significant in our life yet not taken much seriously. In our books or anywhere...a simple definition of being healthy is being mentally, physically and emotionally fit. but how?
to be physically fit...we can join gym and develop biceps, abs etc and be musculoskeletally developed and fit.. what about mental health??
About 69% of teenagers aged between 7-19 years suffer from various types of mental disorder. it can be anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder , etc. some even try to attempt suicide. even if they try to tell their parents.... parents just say, "get over it soon" , but how? no one tells that.
there can be various reasons for being mentally unstable. I don't know much but whatever I have felt is since our childhood, somewhere.. somehow we are not treated well. judged on the basis of looks, clothing, body size, face colour etc.. we may feel unacceptable and made to realise that we are abnormal at some point. but what's wrong in being not normal? atleast we are different and not like others. Abnormal is the new normal according to psychology.
These things leaves a deep impact on our mind that may be harder for some to get over it. they try to change themselves to be accepted by everyone but if they fail.....they think it's over. why do we measure everyone on the same balance?
Even God created us differently.
In adolescents like me...mood changes, anxiety, different phobias are very common. we sometimes stay away from social interactions and like to be alone all the time. but "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you".
how can you help??
1. treat everyone well and don't judge so atleast they don't have the feeling of being unacceptable.
2. appreciate everyone around you and accept them for who they are.
3. listen to them without any judgement.
4. learn to respect and be kind to yourself and towards others also.
5. don't forget that you are that someone too. so avoid self- criticism and love yourself.
.
.
may be these are not enough or even less than enough but whatever I felt... I wrote. live each and every moment and don't forget to smile 😁.
