Independence Day- A Flashback
Every year on this day, there would be one or ( in some years) 2-3 flag hosting ceremonies to start the day. Then, sweets 🍬 would be distributed to everyone present. If you venture out into the city 🏙, you will find people selling flags, pins and other variants to mark the day. Mostly, I would be wearing something white and have a flag pin fixed on the pocket near my chest. During college days 🏫, we would have an elaborate cultural event to mark the day. I still remember being the emcee/anchor for a couple of these functions. Then we would all sit together for lunch and talk about life and memories and eventually everyone goes ahead as per their plans for the day. Maybe it's the history, the friends, the memories, the ebullience, the colour- everything adds to the emotion of the day.
2020 has been different. This is probably the year destined with the task of reminding us the value of freedom, considering the dire circumstances we have been put in. Wherever you are, I wish you happiness and the best for the day and the year!
May we all taste the sweet nectar of Freedom, once again!
Happy Independence Day
