“...Cops please arrest Vera Connel. It's clear that she poisoned butter cookies which were intended for Mr Brown.”
She said nothing but gave me a look as she have hoped I won't let her get arrested. I felt bad but I can't afford any more deaths.
I then talked to Tory who was near Mr Brown's house.
“What a coincidence, we met again...”, I said, “...did you really saw that lady coming out of house?”
“Yes sir. I was cleaning lawn nearby and then I saw her coming out of this house.”
I checked Tory's eyes, gestures and blinks. He was saying truth.
I wanted to talk to him but then I saw Mrs Brown. She was completely shaken. She was murmuring,“He is no more. I knew something is not right. I knew.”
“Mrs Brown. I am really sorry for your loss. But please calm down. We will catch the killer soon”, I said.
“Is there any purpose ? He can't return now.”
“Yes there is a purpose. Do you think his soul will be happy if his killer is free. That's why I beg you to answer some of my questions.”
“What you want to know.”
“Where were you when all this happened?”
“I had went to buy groceries.”
“ Hmm, is there any particular doctor or hospital he preferred?”
“There is a Nurse Heklin. She was the nurse who took care of my mother-in-law in her final stages of life.”
So my next destination was Nurse Heklin's house. Her garden had many roses with their smell all around.
She saw me and asked, “Oh you are probably Mr Lenoir.”
“Yes.”
“Please step inside.”
I entered. She asked me to sit and put bandage on her arm. I asked, “What happened Nurse Heklin? ”
“Oh it's nothing. I just got scratched by rose thorn. ”
She sat in front of me and I asked, “So you know why I am here. I want to ask some questions regarding Mr Brown’s death.”
“Oh may his soul rest in peace. I would be pleased to answer your questions.”
“So Nurse Heklin, can you tell me when you last visited him.”
“It was just yesterday, when his back pain started again. I also prescribed him medicine”
I suddenly got a very strange thing. For such chronic back pain, he too medication prescribed by a nurse. For such serious issues it should have been some well reputed doctor.
Did Mr Brown or this Nurse had some other relations...
