DARK ROSE
Natalia's hands trembled as she grasped the damp soil , her eyes fixated on the casket being lowered into the ground. The sound of the dirt hitting the wood was like a drumbeat , echoing through her soul . " Rodrigo, my love". She whispered her voice cracking .

The mourners around her blurred into a sea of black , their faces obscured by the veil of her grief. She felt like she was drowning in an ocean of pain , unable to escape the crushing weight of her loss . As the casket disappeared from sight. Natalia's legs buckled and she collapsed onto the freshly dug earth . She clawed at the dirt as if trying to hold onto the last remnants of her husband's presence .

" Nooo!" she wailed , the sound tearing from her throat like a primal scream .

" You can't leave me Rodrigo, you can't ". The mourners surged forward trying to comfort her but Natalia shoved them away , her eyes blazing with a fierce intensity while the reporters took photos . She was alone in her husband's funeral with no real family besides to comfort her . The attendees where just strangers to her who came to double check if really the most feared mafia king Rodrigo was dead just like that .

Natalia stood alone , the silence of the cemetery deafening after everyone left. She gazed down at the freshly covered grave , the headstone bearing the name 'Rodrigo Garcia ' in bold letters. Her eyes traced the curves of the letters, her mind reliving the memories they had shared . As she stood there lost in thoughts , a gentle flutter in her abnormal broke the stillness . Her hand instinctively went to her belly , a soft smile spreading across her face .

" Your father would have been so happy to meet you , little one ". She whispered , her voice barely audible . Tears pricked at the corner of her eyes as she imagined Rodrigo's face , his smile , his laughter . She felt the weight of her grief anew , the pain of his absence aching like an open wound .

The baby kicked again and Natalia's eyes dropped to her belly , her heart heavy with the realisation that her child would never know it's father's embrace , his guidance, his love .

The wind rustled through the trees , carrying the whispers of the past , as Natalia stood vigil , her heart torn between grief and the promise of a new life. She soon left the burial grounds with her driver .

Reaching home, it was quite and dull . She had no one but the maids and bodyguards who were now like family . She headed to her bedroom and locked herself in before crying her heart out on the cold floor.

" Rodrigo I had warned you about attending that party but you never listened and you got yourself poison ". She said .

As she was lost in her grief, her phone rang from the bed and she went to pick it up without checking the caller ID.

" Are you happy with the life you chose ". Natalia's eyes shimmered with tears as the sound of her mother's voice sank in . How she had craved to her voice for the past five years .

" Mom…mom ". She mumbled .

" I said are you happy with the life you chose for yourself my girl . Now you have become a laughing stock ,beigb called the widowed wife of Rodrigo must surely be an honour isn't ". She said coldly and the anger was reflecting in her voice.

" Natalia I had brought you up alone while that worthless father of yours was rotting in jail . I had learnt my mistakes the hard way by falling for a person who didn't live an honest life but it seems am still paying for my mistakes because even my only daughter followed in my footsteps. I miss the younger you who had always dreamed of a better and honest life ".

" Mom please , I need you . I need your hugs and your comforting words ".

" Natalia you chose this life on your own . Enjoy being labelled as the widow of a criminal. Trust me I don't want you in my life after you had disappointed me so much . You have shattered the love and trust I once had for you ". She dropped the call leaving Natalia frozen in one place .
