A LIFE IN YOUR HANDS
A message popped up in my phone saying that a so and so person 20 years old , whom I have no direct relation , but is a friend of a friend's friend is being diagnosed with Arteriovenous malformation and Intracerebral hemorrhage . He had to undergo a surgery which cost upto 7 lakhs and is in need of financial aid , and below which the account no and further bank details were given .
As usual I just ignored the message . It could be a fake after all , but since it was my friend's message I kind of believed it . But still I don't know that person , so it doesn't concern me was my attitude at that time . After a while many of my friends started putting this message as their status with the request to help him . They too were like me , didn't know him personally , but through some channel knew it to be real .
It just kept on bothering me throughout the day . Well , If I were rich enough I wouldn't have had to think about it , I would have contributed my part .... but then again , If I were rich , there's a pretty big possibility that I could have totally ignored it too .
Only if we take a minute to think if through , to imagine the situation of that person struggling for life , his parents desperation to save his life , his friends running around to arrange the cash .
What if ????
What if I was in that situation ?. I would be desperately praying that people would help me , hold on to my hope that I could save my loved one, that frustration in knowing that I could only just pray for some help and otherwise remain totally helpless. I can't think anymore .
The value of a life indirectly depended on me too . By then I had already sent some money to that account .
The one more important thing is our prayers . It is these prayers and love that envelope that and give them that strength to survive through these situations .So if you know something to be real and deserving of your help , don't hesitate , just go for it .After all , God doesn't except anything back each time he help's you .
Just like we pray to God in our desperate situations to do his part well , here we are given an opportunity to do our part well . To them its you all in the form of God who is helping them right now .
And Right now I find myself smiling again .
