VALUABLE LESSONS I LEARNT TODAY
One good thing that I've come to understand is that every experience has a lesson, and today was no exception.

The first thing I learnt today was that things will not always go your way or the way you've planned it. Get prepared and ready for the worst.

Earlier today, I went to JAMB office in Abeokuta to sort out some issues concerning my admission. Being someone that loves to manage her time, I already calculated the time I was going to spend there, approximately 3hrs at most, and even made a to-do list of things to do when I got back(little did I know).

I ended up spending 5 hrs because I was delayed due to some unplanned events; my documents were not complete (trust me, I didn't intend to be ignorant. But, then I should have taken all of the possible requested documents, right?), and I forgot my card to make payments (I had thought that they would accept cash, totally forgot about the cashless policy).

Knowing that these delays came from my end, I got a little frustrated (even though I tried to hide it), I was on the verge of crying, when I decided that I would not let my day be ruined, which eventually got better.

Another thing I learnt was always to ask for help. Yorubas will say "abere ona ko kin shina", meaning someone who asks for the way won't miss the way.

Sometimes pride and fear of rejection have stopped me from asking for help from other people, but to be frank, we can't deny the fact that we can't do things alone, we all need the help of others one way or the other.

Back to my story, I began to think of what to do, cause going back home was definitely not an option, mainly due to the transportation fare. I called my mom, but what could she have done? I can't let her come over just for a card, and she couldn't send it as a message for security reasons, although I had already printed the rest of the documents I needed.

So, I decided to ask for help from people around, a lady initially refused to help me because she was scared I would run away, which I totally understand but at that time, the tears had welled up. I asked two other people and they couldn't help me untill I tried another lady, and she helped me with her card.

She was so nice to me, that she waited till I finish using the card before she left. I was very elated. They were other people I asked for help today, and they also helped me, and I made sure to thank them afterwards, even upon getting home.

The point is to "ask". Even the bible said "Ask, and it shall be given; seek, and you shall find..." We all need to learn to always ask for help.

The worst thing they will say is "no", and there's always someone out there that will say "yes". And if the help was rendered to you, always express your gratitude.

If I didn't ask for help today, I would have stayed longer or probably gone back home which means I'd have to return the next day, and wasted more time.

These two lessons I will hold in my heart, and I encourage you to do the same. Learn to change your approach when obstacles arise and always be willing to ask for help.
Selah!
