Bee
#WritcoStoryPrompt42
She chose her cleanest piece of clothing to wear. It was a festival afterall and she wanted to celebrate with everyone else. When she stepped into the street a speeding car drove by splashing dirty water on her.
A tear fell down her cheek. The poor had no right to celebrate..., something that never changed for decades.

'Really, perfect timing' I said looking at my once white turned brown dress.

She looked at the time, 'Hope I'm not late?'. I said as I remembered I had to meet up with Katie my bestie so we could go together alongside some really nice people I'd met earlier on.

'No, you are right on time'. She took a look at the attractive stranger that suddenly appeared in front of me.

'What are you doing?' I asked the mysterious stranger as he came closer'

' I just wanted to apologise for splashing water on you'

'Dirty'

'What'

' I'd be fine it were just water right, I would just need to stay under the sun and dry right, you splashed dirty water on me on a beautiful sunny day.' I said sarcastically glaring at him.

He looked at me a little amused

'What?, don't I have the right to be angry Mr'

' You sure do and as much as I would love to have a conversation with you, take' He said handing me a business card, this number belongs to my PA, please call her. 'I'd call her in advance but you calling her would mean giving your full consent' He said walking

'To What' I called after him

He smiled and walked briskly into his car giving me a full smile and zoomed off. I looked at the card, it's not like I have a choice. I sighed looking down at my dress. Well he looked rich, it wouldn't be bad, now would it. I dialed the number and a lady picked it and I explained to her.

'I have been informed ma'am, turn around and enter the limo'

Well that was fast, I turned around to see a limo door opened by the chauffeur and I quickly entered before this dream was snatched away from me. I was taken to a magnificent building, there were loads of clothes and I saw a woman walking up to me.

'Good Morning' She said giving me a full smile.

'Good morning' I slowly replied

I was about to say something when she cut me off.

'You must be Deborah'

'What!, how do you know my name?, have I been stalked?' I screamed in horror, I had to find a way out of this place ASAP.

'Relax, Mr Parker practically owns this town so it was no trouble getting your information"

'Who in the world is Mr Parker?, i get he's the blind guy that splashed water on me but who exactly is he?'

Diana looked like she'd been hit in the face by a baseball bat.

'Are you okay?' I asked a little concerned.

' I should be asking you that, never heard of Mr Zach Parker-Anderson'

it all began to click, the one and only Zach that girls were always rattling about since I moved here. The apparently only surviving son of the town's head president more like the Prince.

' I just moved here for college' She finally ushered me to sit and a stylist came out of nowhere and did my hair, nails, and all other things that needed to be done. Diana watched keenly as if looking for any imperfections. A beautiful red dress was chosen for me, I looked from Diana to the dress.

I sighed ' I'm going to a festival not a date'

'Well sorry, Miss Deborah'

'Just call me bee'

She gave me a weird look and smiled like she got the best idea. She brought out a gown and when I saw it I smiled.

'This town as always celebrated the flower festival, the time of the year when flowers were the brightest, freshest and beautiful.' She said holding up a simple floral chiffon gown. it's unique color was the perfect blend of red and purple blending delicately with my dark skin. What stood out the most the Huge Bee on a flower tendly sucking nectar

' it's beautiful' I said as I wore it.

'No, you're beautiful' She said giving me a warm smile.

A few minutes later, I was ready. when I entered the limo and saw that my phone was bombarded with messages from Kasie wondering where I was. I quickly called her and told her everything.

'Omg Debbie, you just got here and met Zach, she squealed like a child, you sure have some explaining to do. Get your butt here right now'

Minutes later we arrived and as soon as I got down everyone started giving me looks of admiration. Kasie who sighted me from where she stood screamed

'Bee!!!!' she screamed hugging me till I couldn't breathe.

'You look stunning Bee'

'Well thanks to the well loaded Mr Parker over there'

'You should thank him'

'Heavens no, he did this because he splashed dirty water on me, if anything, he should be the one apologizing'

'It's the moment we've all be waiting for, the historical flower and is about to bloom' The town head said pointing towards the flower.

As we watched on, I saw the most magnificent flower bloom. It made me remember when my mom worked as a maid for a certain rich woman and I wanted to play in her garden like her children. Her children kicked me and called me poor. I cried and went to mom, she asked me a very important question. Which is more important in the garden, the flowers or the bee?

'Of course flowers' i had said thinking, what use would a garden be if there were no flowers

'No my dear, they both need each other but no one appreciates the work of the bee, they all compliment the beauty of the flower forgetting the work done behind the scenes. Never forget in life, the poor need the rich and the rich need the poor'

'Does that mean we're poor?'

' I'd rather say we're a middle class family'

'What about butterflies?'

She looked at me and chuckled

'Well them too'

'Them what?'

'They should also be appreciated'

Since then I decided to be a bee well not literally. I wanted to add joy and happiness everywhere I went. Maybe it's not all bad being in the background, right. I felt that way until recently like I was fighting my destiny. Was I going to live my whole life expecting appreciation from people?

What if mom was wrong?, maybe I was a flower. I sighed and watched on as it bloomed and shone like the ever glowing sun.
