Collective Memory
Have you ever woke from a dream so real, so amazing and tried desperately to fall back to sleep in the same dream sequence? Then as you begin to drift back to sleep, you suddenly realize that all that uphoria, all those stimulated nerve endings and feelings of excitement now seem confusing as amnesia sets in.
"What the hell was I dreaming about?" you ask yourself.
Flickers and still photos of what once was so lifelike, now seem distant. Fragments of your dream seem to tease you, but make no sense as you squeeze your eyes tight and try to bring back some or all of what made you feel so incredible only moments before.
Now if anyone were to ask about your dream you would only be able to give brief segments; if any, of the dream. You would never be able to recreate the state of complete Zen, and even to yourself none of it makes much sense anymore. Now YOU even wonder what it was that made it so great to begin with.
What once made you wish you'd never wake up now only makes you confused and embarrassed.
I have these dreams all the time. Only; they are nightmares! Yes, horrifying pure adrenaline inducing, wake up screaming nightmares that even the greatest horror film fails to produce.
I absolutely love them! They're my very own horror movies starring yours truly.
Now what if you wake up and you cannot forget any of it but wish you could? Your dream was so frightening that you woke screaming with your heart pounding so loud in your chest that you think the police are at your door!
Well, I had one of those nightmares. The details are clear and precise. I cannot wake from this dream although I try desperately to.
This nightmare is my life!
