Today is my 50th birthday. It is midnight. I can see fantabulous colourful scrapbook on my bed with a note "To my mother, from your loving daughter".
On opening, I can see beautiful pictures showing my journey of life.
Indeed, all the world is a stage and we are merely the players. Each person plays different roles in his or her lifetime. Going through the scrapbook, I can see a picture with my adopted daughter. Our first picture together taken at an orphanage. I could still recall that day when I when took this decision of being a single mother and adopting a girl child. Before that I ended a toxic marriage. I took an official separation from my husband. And I remember I got mixed reactions. I remember at that time my mother said, "It is not essential to be a biological mother in order to embrace motherhood and raise a child." That decision has been the most empowering decision of my life. My journey as a mother watching my adopted daughter grow gave me a feeling of joy which cannot be described in words. Today she is a grown up girl. She has added a value to my life. Motherhood has made my life meaningful.
Our journey together as a mother and daughter continues which makes this beautiful gift called 'life' more beautiful.
