Castigation
"She was writhing in front of them...crying, shouting them to stop but the whispers didn't stop, the harsh voices kept ringing in her head...She picked that shining knife which was her only light in the darkness and let it cut through her soft flesh. The pain soothed her mind and with flowing blood her soul slowly left her body and she fell lifelessly....."

He woke up....panting harshly, the same dream again, He could still feel her emotions, all the pain she went through....her lifeless body, those soulless eyes were still clearly in front of him.

He shook his head, took a shower and got ready.

"Good Morning Daddy." His five-year-old son said while rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning pumpkin, Get ready." He said while putting eggs in the pan.

"Are we going somewhere?" the little one asked.

"yes, we're going to meet mommy." He said with a huge sigh.

"yay!!! I'll get to see mommy today!!" The child shouted excitedly but his father did not reply.

November's chilly air hit his face and Autumn leaves crunched under his feet as he walked with his son by his side.

He stopped in front of a tombstone, put the flowers and looked at his son whose curious green gaze was roaming the depths of a lifeless cemetery.

"Daddy where is mommy?"

"Baby mommy is right here under the sand." He told the child, holding his emotions back.

"why is mommy hiding under the sand?" The child asked.

That was his breaking point His knees gave up...His vision blurred, His shaking shoulders indicated his miserable state. He could saw her smile that used to light up his world. When he saw her wearing that white wedding dress...All those memories...He could feel them...

He felt little hands comforting him.

"Don't cry, daddy." The child said.

He cleaned his tears composed himself and told his child the answer he required.

"Baby mommy was going through hard times but daddy wasn't there for her when she needed him the most ... b-because Daddy thought mommy needed money more than him. So, to punish daddy she hid."

"Don't worry daddy, she'll come back." The little boy said.

He knew she wasn't coming back, He knew he had lost the gem just because he thought if he was earning enough everything was fine.

Life taught him, money could never buy happiness. Now, he has to live with this huge regret because that is his castigation.
