The judgemental society
From career to marriage, personal fights to divorce, from fertility concerns to even gender of a baby, some people choose to talk about absolutely anything. These are the same people who would age shame someone for not marrying early, body shame someone for not possessing a weirdly desribed term, BEAUTY. There are times when they throw comments on someone for not having a baby, or one's choice to not marry in life.
The targets vary from teens to adults to even single mothers. Women who choose not to marry or marry late, who aren't perceived beautiful or are highly ambitious towards their work, are often questioned, stared at, and judged as if they are supposed to simply look after a family all their lives.
Who gave the right to people to potentially control, influence and judge one's personal choices?
Why is having a girl child still a concern in some conservative families? The child is their own blood, who has nurtured in those 9 months and finally seen this world just to be loved by all irrespective of gender.
Why is adoption not seen as a great choice of having a family? It can make one's life complete!
A girl who doesn't wish to marry, doesn't really count as her choice or her right to decide. "It would be shame to the family if you do so", is by far the most heard statements of all.
Not just women, but even men are judged. They're expected to be strong, not show their emotional side, excel in every field, and if they raise their voice for wrong doings, they are considered to not have basic manners.
The biggest reality of all is that men go unnoticed a lot of times in our society. They also support, express gratitude, care for their families, achieve success and leave a great impact on other people.
Generalising people of one gender on the basis of what a particular person of the same gender has done is totally wrong.
Why not see someone as simply a person who has got a life and they're living it.....
Understanding one's mental state, not laughing about one's anxiety issues or financial conditions, not talking behind people's back, respecting one's personal choice should be a prime concern of our society presently.
Isn't that how we'll all grow as a society?
