THE SECOND SHADOW
Growing up, she always wished to stay in the city and lead a busy life. But once the wish was stated, she no longer spoke highly of the luxurious but tiring city life and instead wished to go far away to the woods and live a solitary life. Whenever she was reminded of sense & logic, she realized that it wasn’t practical enough to run away from the responsibilities and duties she is shouldered with & thus, decided to spend a week in the woods- in a cottage she had an eye on, so that she could take a break from her busy schedule. She was all set to leave the city, with her huge bag-pack stuffed with clothes, torch lights and on top, her vintage diary was placed. From candles to her camera & cookies to clothes & ropes to rags, & fur jackets to fruit baskets, everything was loaded onto the backseat of her car. She drove, but paused at places where she could click beautiful pictures and shoot great videos. She watched the sunset and wrote a few lines on the same, in the meanwhile she had forgotten her plan of reaching the cottage before it was too dark. But soon she drove and reached the turn to the woods, and there hung a wooden board, which said ‘Daffodil Cottage, take right’. She drove down and found a perfect place to park her car loaded with items she brought all the way from the city, she got down the car and sighed and clicked a picture of the cottage. With utmost merry she opened the glass door of the cottage and looked around, deciding not to waste time and instead unpack her bags and set everything as swiftly as possible. An hour later, when all her work was done with, she decided to go, take a hot water shower while the winds outside were getting colder and the moon was deciding to shine a little briIt was half past eleven when she settled down on her armchair. She had the habit of maintaining her own personal diary, in which she would paste a picture that she takes on her polaroid and would add a little write-up under it, which would explain everything that happened in her day. Like any other day she settles down with her vintage diary and her polaroid, re-looking at the pictures of the day, something caught her eye. It was the picture of the front view of the cottage she was currently in. What she sees in the picture forces her to turn her head slowly to the right and look at the window.
