Dhunki movie is fascinating despite the ugliness of their struggles
We all have seen the dhunki movie and how funny it was despite all of their struggles. Here, Mannu, despite being a cultural girl, wants to go to London to build the dream house and earn a lot of money. She said she wants to make her family proud but we all know by the time she will achieve her dreams, no one in her family will be alive.
Then comes Hardy who is blindly in love with Mannu and wants to build a future with her. But when the judge asked him to save him from jail, he went against saying he wants a assylum, though it could have put them together. His country love won against the love he had behold for Mannu. We see here, he wasn't all into living with Mannu together.
Also, when he saw, in London, people live worse than insects, he wanted to go back to India, despite knowing Mannu wanted this so badly. He stayed after Manny's requests, but it felt like he only stayed to explore London more.
We saw stupid Sukhi who was dying to go to London to save abused Jassi. We saw Sukhi cryingly telling they will kill Jassi, which is quite annoying. A dramatic weak man crying for another weak girl is disgusting.
While all of them were taking English classes to get qualified for London, the classes were also interesting. Here, Mannu taking Hardi's side naively, what Hardy makes fall her were quite romantic. More interesting was when Mannu told how great teachers should behave.
In the test for abroad, when Mannu were told to explain how to make a roti, her explanation was boring. It came across as more of the physical observation of making roti, instead of a simple recipie. It was also heart touching that only people from Asia needs to prove themselves as worthy people to live in abroad.
When Sukhi burn himself after the suicide of Jassi, it was disgusting too. First, he was always moody, then he was draining the vibes of others by doing all these. His cringe worthy suicide made everyone cried instead of feeling disgusted. What made them go to London illegally out of frustration. Which was more horrible.
Overall, the movie was interesting, but heartbreaking, because none of them get their dreams fulfilled. There was no beautiful ending.
