Chapter 6
The chain fell the ground in pieces from the blow of the hammer. Issac flinched to it, and glanced up at the stairs, maybe expecting to see one of my sisters walk down yelling, "What do you think you're doing?" I opened the door, "Don't worry, they're all pasted out." I said. He crawled out, and stood up. "Let's go." I said. He tailed me as we walked up the stairs to the kitchen. When I opened the door I froze seeing the small body of Anena standing at the kitchen table. "Hi Tessa." she said in a fake bright voice. "What are you doing with the prey?" She asked seeing Issac behind me. I tried swallowing the lump in my throat. Anena's expression darkened as her head tilted towards the ground and her grip on her bear tightened. "You're letting him go?" she said in a dark voice. "I'm not going to let you take off with my favorite toy." she said. The lights flicked off, and when they turned on again, she was gone. I looked around carefully for her to appear anywhere. "What happened? Where is she?" Issac asked looking around. "Anena is the sin greed. So, when she wants something, she gets it at all costs." I explained. The lights flickered on and off. "She's trying to catch us by surprise. Like a little ghost girl, so be careful, and follow me." I said. We looked around searching for her, and approached the front door. Then, when the lights flickered on, she stood to my far left. "Got you!" I yelled. The lights went off, and she disappeared. "She's gone?" he asked. "For now. If we can at least get out, we should be temporarily safe." I said. Then, over and over she tried to sneak up on us, but we were lucky to catch her until she disappeared again. "We're almost there!" I said noticing the door. Then, the lights turned off, but this time, stayed off. Then, I heard Issac grunt like trying to scream. "Issac?" I said in the dark, but didn't hear him respond. "Issac!" I called. "Oh no. Did you loose him?" I heard Anena's voice echo in the pitch black. "What are you doing, Tessa?" she asked, and the lights came on. She stood a few meters away from me. Her teddy bear was now life sized and holding Issac in a head lock. "Don't tell me you're trying to help the prey. He's just a boy." She said. "Maybe he is." I said. "But if he was just a boy," I pulled out my scalpel, "Then why would I go this far?" I asked, and through the scalpel cutting deep into her eye. She stood stunned for a while, but fell to the ground dead. The bear turned stuffed again, falling to the ground with her releasreleasing Issac. He huffed for breath rubbing his throat walking over to me. "She's dead." he said. "We should go." I said and rushed out of there. We hopped into Amarah's black van, and drove down the road. The road to freedom. Hopefully.
