Dear Parole Board
Dear sirs and madames you the board,
Hello my name is Charquillia Nicole Addison and I am writing you this letter today in regards to my dad Mr. Derrick Clark. I'm writing you this letter today because I feel that he deserves a second chance. He will be eligible for parole .
I first wrong my dad when I was 16 years old because I had questions about my mother that no one else was answering for me. I have been in touch with him ever since that day. Before things in my own life happened I used to be able to go and visit my father all the time. I have probably over 200 something letter that I have been able to save between the two of us laughing and joking in almost every one, but some of them where him doing his best job at giving me advice on the things I was going through in all aspects of life like, relationships with boys, school, my writing, just everything. The next best thing to be able to see him on visit is the phone calls sometimes if I am lucky I could get two back to back.
I know that many people would say that I am unable to remember anything from when I was that young or something like that but I do remember something small things about life with my dad before that day my mom died. Things like going to the park all the time when he got home from work, him taking me to get my hair done with my sister, our love of Mac and cheese with hot dogs and sneaking extra when Mom wasn't looking. Him always tucking me in to bed at night, and being there when I woke up from a bad dream. When it comes to how things happened I can't tell you but what I could tell you is that every day at my dad's spent away from all of us kids he has regarded the actions that he took that. While my dad has been incarcerated he has taken many actions to better himself to the best of his ability. He has been a good inmate barely getting into trouble, he has been working in the kitchen in a few different prisons that he was in. My dad has also because like a spiritual leader in his religion of Islam. I know that if release my dad would continue to work hard to be a better person than the day before and would work to give back to his community in different ways.
My father has shared with me many different things that he wishes to accomplish once he is released like; he would like to publish his own books and help me polish mine too, he would like to find a way to start his own busines like a car wash or repair shop since I know how to fix cars, many other things as well. My dad has always told me that he just wants to help me achieve my dream and see me happy. I believe that he will only become a better person if he gets released home. Since the first day I met my dad until now I have seen him grow spiritual and as a person in general. As time went on he has grown calmer and learned to really think before he does things. The dreams that my father has shared with me, I believe would be almost impossible for anyone to achieve while incarcerated.
I just wanted to thank you for your consideration in this matter. Please take the the time and care that this situation is calling for.
Thank you
Charquillia Nicole Addison
