I read it once, then twice. I wasn't imagining it - I had won the lottery!
I was over the Moon. I had already planned my long wish list. I immediately called my mother to inform the good news. My mother is in her late fifties, and needed medical attention for her long list of diseases. I had planned for both my parents medical expenses with the lottery money. It was a huge sum for a girl from Middle class society. My Mother was so happy and had immediately booked a meeting with a well known Astrologer to discuss on my future. It's obvious for us Indians to trust the astrologer more than their own kid. Typical Indian parents think the astrologers know more than their kids. Babu uncle is our family accquaintance and a well known Astrologer ( he claims). He on receiving the news was excited as if , it was his lottery ticket . He gave my mother a long list of groceries and things for the next big pooja he has planned for the prosperity and wellness of the family. As everyone in the house was excited, my silent father was sitting in a chair outside seeing us all go mad . I asked my father if he is not happy that I won this money . He laughed out loud at us and said " Oh u fool, do u know the prize money for the lottery u won? Its just 1000 Rupees. He added, you can fulfill neither your wishlist nor ours with this money. I would suggest you to donate this to someone who can't afford food. Atleast they will buy a days food with this money.
We got the winning amount in hand in a week. We happily gave the money to a old woman who was begging for food on the steeets. I don't know if that money helped her. I hope it did. Atleast she could have bought a days meal with it.
When I gave the amount she had blessed me . I believe that's the biggest lottery I won and that lottery is gonna make me win lot of lottery's to come .
