I'm gonna confess something at the start:
I loved Nu Metal.
Yup. I was a teenager in the late 90s and it was perfect timing. It was dark, intense, and unconventional. Perfect music for a snarky teen like I was back then. Hell, I still listen to some of it today. I've always liked music that did something different but resonated.
This is why I like Dream Theater so much now. Dream Theater is a progressive rock band that can get heavy. It's like Rush and Yes mixed with Metallica. It is rock music but done in a way that sounds unconventional, but when you dive in, there is a method to the madness.
