A Girl Called 5am - Chapter 11
As I fled from the Hall, the ground started to move beneath my feet knocking me temporarily off balance. I soon regained my footing clutching the ledger close to my chest, I hitched up my ball gown and ran towards the forest.

The ground continued to shake violently, I had never been in an earthquake before but imagined this is what it must be like. All around me large gouges were opening up in the ground, sending up giant plumes of steam into the air. Massive rocks were now being cannoned out of the gouges and I had to dodge them as they came crashing back to earth.

There was also a strange phenomenon happening in the sky which was definitely a ten on the weird scale. The fog and grey skies that had accompanied me on my journey, were now beginning to break up.

I don't mean that the fog was being disbursed through a change in the climate, no, it was 'breaking-up'. Cracks were appearing in the sky, the sort of cracks that appear on an egg shell when tapped by a spoon. Huge shards of 'egg shell' sky was now falling to earth. Through these gaps, I could see clear blue sky.

Despite the earthquake hindering my progress, I was soon at the forest. But unlike last time, their animosity towards me was non-existent. The raised roots that had proved to be a stumbling block before, snapped as soon as I trod on them. The branches that once would have tried to grab me, crumbled as I fell into them as I lost my balance from the constant shifting of the earth.

More shards fell from the sky. The area around me was rapidly changing, there was a new world outside, waiting to push through. Even my ball gown was disappearing. But there was no fear of me being naked, my old clothes apparently were under...
