CHAPTER - 1 : The Mystery
Kartik, his sister Ritu and his friend Sahil were best friends. They studied in the same college and had chosen the same field, civil engineering. While Ritu was one year younger then both of them. Sahil too treated Ritu like her own sister because he was a single child and had no siblings.
All of the three were very interested in trekking, they always went to different mountains and enjoyed themselves in climbing up and down.
During vacations, their other college mates mostly went to weddings, picnics, etc. But these three always spent their vacations by roaming into the mountains.
Firstly they used to choose a mountain and then they collected all the information and images about it and then next day they started their journey.
Their parents never refused them because they were also good in studies, and they only travelled during weekends or holidays.
They always loved to achieve something by hard work and perseverance. And when they used to reach on top of the mountain, they felt like they were on top of the world, and they won, this feeling always encouraged them to do more such adventures. They wanted a life full of adventures. They believed that without adventures, life is nothing.
One day at college, holidays were about to start and Ritu was very much excited and she was not able to control her happiness, but before holidays, results were going to be released.
Ritu (excitedly) : Bhaiya! Holidays are about to come.
Kartik : Yeah! That’s gonna be fun.
Ritu : Bhaiya, have you searched some mountain to go to, during these holidays.
Kartik : No Ritu, I haven’t found any yet.
Ritu : Oh!
Kartik : But we will find some place, you don’t worry, just worry about your exam ( he said teasingly )
Ritu : Don’t you worry about my result Bhaiya, my exams were good, I hope I will get good marks.
Kartik (teasingly) : Oh! So you hope but you are not sure!
Ritu (furiously) : Bhaiya!!!!!
She hit his shoulder teasingly, he giggled and then Sahil appeared in the canteen.
Sahil : What’s going on? Any plans for vacations?
Ritu : Not till now, Bhaiya will be searching today, hopefully.
Then Ritu’s friends called her to come to eat Ice cream, as she loved Ice cream.
Ritu : Catch you later bhaiya’s ( she said giggling )
Kartik : Such a foodie she is, a few moments earlier she ate an ice cream with me and now another one.
Sahil laughed slightly,
Sahil : Would you mind buying me an ice cream.
Kartik : Of course, Not
Kartik walked towards the shop and bought two chocolate flavoured ice creams, one for Sahil and another one for himself. Then they both sat on a bench eating their ice creams, all of a sudden, their friend Madhu came towards them and sat beside them.
Madhu : What’s up?
Sahil : Hi, long time no see.
Madhu : Actually, studies were eating my brain, so that’s why if someone wanted to meet me they would come to the library.
Kartik (laughing) : Study owl!
Madhu : Hey! How did you know I studied at night?
Sahil : Well, the whole college talked about your study nights. Mr. owl
Madhu : Well, you three are also famous in college.
Kartik : How?
Madhu : You three are called the trekking birds by other students, don’t you know, your selfies that you post on Instagram and Facebook, when you reach the top of a mountain are very famous!
Sahil : Now I got that.
Kartik : Hey Madhu! Do you have any information about some mountain where we can go?
Madhu : No
Kartik : Hmmm…
Madhu : But, there’s a fort in my village, it’s actually not a fort now because it’s demolished now and no one goes there, it’s road has also been blocked.
Sahil : No one goes there? Why?
Madhu’s face instantly got tensed up.
Madhu : I told you na! It’s destroyed now, that’s why.
Kartik : No, that’s not the reason, will you tell us the truth or you wanna us to go there.
Madhu ; No, no you shouldn't go there, it’s not safe, it’s dangerous.
Kartik : Firstly, tell us the whole thing.
Madhu : Ok, that fort is considered haunted, in my village it is believed that the fort is acquired by some kind of spirits which are evil and very dangerous. Before two or three years, a girl from our village was lost, she was last seen going to that fort and they believe that the evil spirits killed her. And one more such incident is there, before two three months, one more girl is missing, she was also seen going in that fort, so they all just believe that she is also killed.
Sahil : Did anyone place a complaint in the police station?
Madhu : Sahil, my village is too far from the police station and how could police get into that fort, the road that goes there has been destroyed, and the girl’s family are poor that’s why they can’t bear insult from villagers, that why she went there alone.
Kartik : Anything else you know?
Madhu : No, nothing else.
Kartik : Fine, can I ask you something.
Madhu : Sure!
Kartik : If we come to your village, can you arrange some shelter for us?
Madhu : Fine, you can live in my home, it is very big. But Kartik, I think you are planning to go to that fort, am I right?
Kartik : Yeah!
Madhu : I won’t let you do that, I can’t risk your lives, if something happen to you then…
Sahil grabbed his mouth with his hand
Sahil : Shut Up! I thought you were brave, but you are a coward.
Kartik : Listen Madhu, there’s nothing like ghosts and spirits, and if there is I want to know that…
Madhu took off Sahil’s hand and began to say,
Madhu : But…
Kartik : No buts, we are coming there after results and you have to arrange all our needs, you understood.
Madhu (looking downwards) : Fine
Then Madhu left both of them.
Sahil : Are you sure, you want to go there.
Kartik : Yeah! Let’s see the ghost!
Sahil : Ok, let the mysterious adventure begin!!!
