I see you in a blur 8

(This is coming late, sorry)

Rebecca's POV

Tuesday
7:30 PM

“Gosh, sis, this is wonderful”

“Well, thank you, Callie”

“You should really consider opening your art gallery”

“I want to, but you know how things are”

“I do, as much as I'd want to continue this conversation, I have to go, love you. Call me when you get there” with that she ended the video call. I grabbed my lens that was lying on the table and checked the painting again. “It's perfect” I said to myself. I removed the canvas from the easel and put it inside a portfolio. I checked the time for the umpteenth time. “She was running late, we needed to get there before 9”

It was at that moment that the doorbell rang, I slid my phone into my bag, grabbed my luggage and portfolio and rushed to the door, almost slipping on the way. I opened the door to see my friend, Rosa. I hugged her, and she helped me carry my luggage.

“I'm off Dad, Rosa's here” I was about to walk out the door when my Dad called my name.

“Yes, Dad” I said hurriedly

“Won't you hug your pop, goodbye”

“Awwn Dad, aren't you cute” I said in baby voice as I hugged him and dashed out of the house into Rosa's car.

Ezra's POV

Tuesday
5:45 PM

I looked over from my desk at Noah, who was getting his things ready for tonight. I checked through the story in front of me, this was a new gig I'd gotten from a Chinese guy asking me to change it to English and promised me a good amount of money. To be honest, I loved that I was self-employed, but it was getting stressful as I had not gathered enough capital to expand and get labor, I sighed.

“Ezra, come over here”

“Why?”

“Just come over here” I grudgingly dragged myself off my seat and went to meet him to see him holding one of my favorite pair of shoes.

“What are you doing?” I said and snatched the shoe from him.

“Give it back” He said in baby voice

“Why?”

“I like it and I want to take it to the retreat”

“No way bro” I said shaking my head.

“Why not?”

“You have tons of shoes and tons of money, spare a not so rich guy like me”

“No I don't”

“You lawyers make lots of money, don't even try to deny”

“Fine, you win. When I saw you sitting down pathetically, I couldn't help but get you up”

“It's nothing Noah”

“You can confide in me Ezra” He said, putting his hand reassuringly on my shoulder

“I'm stressed, that's it. Dad never wanted me to write but when he saw my passion, he supported me, now I feel stuck”

“What exactly is wrong?”

“I want to expand, the jobs coming in are too overwhelming for me and I've lost numerous gigs. I moved here, so Dad wouldn't see my struggle”

“The struggle is a real bro, we'd figure something out. Let's go for the retreat, when we get back, we'd figure it out together. I didn't know you had problems too?"

“When you're so self-absorbed in your struggle, you tend to forget that everyone struggles, even the so-called perfect ones”

“You're right Ezra, let's pack though, it's getting late”

“Yeah”
