One common advantage of doing politics for the welfare of the people and for one's own interests is to enjoy more power than apolitical people.
Through political power, a rich or poor politician can be more known and a controller of the situation than a non-political rich person.
For example: William is an industrialist, but does not do politics.
Anthony is a poor man, but he does politics.
Over time, William became the owner of more money, and Anthony became the party's nominee for MP and industry minister.
Now the situation is such that William can only control his own industrial establishments.
But even though Anthony is poor, he is controlling industrialists like William because he is the industry minister.
In other words, despite being poor, Anthony has become a minister and is controlling industrialists like William.

জনকল্যাণের জন্যই হোক আর নিজের স্বার্থের জন্যই হোক রাজনীতি করলে একটা কমন সুবিধা পাওয়া যায়, সেটা হল অরাজনৈতিক ব্যক্তিদের চেয়ে বেশি ক্ষমতা ভোগ।
রাজনৈতিক ক্ষমতার মাধ্যমে অরাজনৈতিক ধনী ব্যক্তির চেয়ে ধনী অথবা দরিদ্র রাজনীতিক বেশি পরিচিত ও পরিস্থিতির নিয়ন্ত্রক হতে পারেন।
যেমন : আলাল একজন শিল্পপতি, কিন্তু রাজনীতি করেন না।
দুলাল দরিদ্র ব্যক্তি, কিন্তু রাজনীতি করেন।
সময়ের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে আলাল আরও টাকার মালিক হলেন, আর দুলাল দলীয় মনোনয়ন পেয়ে এমপি ও শিল্পমন্ত্রী হলেন।
এখন পরিস্থিতিটা এমন, আলাল সাহেব শুধু নিজের শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে পারছেন।
কিন্তু দুলাল দরিদ্র হলেও শিল্পমন্ত্রী হওয়ার কারণে আলালের মত শিল্পপতিদেরকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছেন।
অর্থাৎ দুলাল দরিদ্র হওয়া সত্ত্বেও মন্ত্রী হয়ে আলালের মত শিল্পপতিদেরকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছেন।
