Red Dawn (Chapter Two)
Hades did his best to avoid the flac, but with giant pieces of ship are falling all around them it was nearly impossible. They were almost home free when a piece of shrapnel clipped their left wing engine sending them plummeting to the ground below.
Hades did his best to keep it under control but as they were about to touch ground they spun to the left and hit with enough force to dig a divet into the ground and crush the right wing completely. They slide for another twelve feet before stopping, and then the biggest chunk of the ship landed with a earth shaking thund before silence once again engulfed the planet.

Hades's vision began to swim back into focus, and as it did he became aware of a sharp pain in his right side along with his head, and could feel blood running down his lips. He looked around, and while he was sure that they were injured in various ways he was glad to see everyone was still alive. The ship was still relatively in tact despite the impact, which ment that the doors were still sealed, and instead of a glass windshield there was cameras all along the front of the ship and displayed on a giant holographic screen for the pilot, that way if something like this happens the only entry point is the door which can easily be defended if necessary. Hades undid the harness and painfully got up to check on everyone, and as he had guessed everyone was injured in some fashion, though Petrov had it the worst with a busted arm and both his legs were crushed by a supplies crate.
One of the crew that got brought with them was a medical officer named Cassandra, who after confirming that she was okay herself, began inspecting the others, and Larrisa only came up to him and was about to hug him when she saw his stained shirt and realized he was hurting. Her eyes began to water and without thinking he wrapped his arms around, wincing and gritting his teeth at the pain of her embrace, all the while think how lucky they were to have escaped with their lives, but an all too familiar screech in the distance reminded them of their situation, and was that they were lost on a planet crawling with infected and the only hope of contacting help is getting the COMs system back up at the front most part of the ship. Not to mention the crew members still scattered throughout the area and maybe even the planet.
"That was some smooth piloting there Ace", Howard said to Hades in jest.
"Think the landing could have been smoother, but at least we're alive and safe for now", he replied. His thoughts were of other things, like what were the chances the COMs system even worked, or that there was anyone else left. Yes, the Commander was here but still he felt a massive weight on his shoulders that wouldn't move no matter what. Right now, they need to establish a base of operations, and since this was the most secure spot so far it would do. After everyone was treated Hades began checking the fuses and found that if he replaced two then they could at least get their teams COMs back online and connected to the ship's, plus get the power on so that they can see what's outside around them and stay warm as well. After about twenty minutes of working and swearing in English, Russian, and Spanish Hades finally brought the ship back to life internally, and when the display screen came on they saw they landed in a field maybe twenty yards from a town of some kind, and it looked like just beyond that was the wreckage of something, possibly another pod. Hades sat in the pilot's seat and took a slow, painful breath of air as he began to weigh his chances of reaching that wreckage without being seen, and quickly realized that it was impossible for any of them in their current conditions, all except for Larrisa. He dreaded the thought of sending her out there alone, not just cause of his feelings for her but also because he couldn't in good conscience send a soldier into unknown territory with absolutely no information.
Doc, that was her new call sign now made official by her temporary membership to their team, sat beside him and began examining him.
"I'm fine. I've had worse", he said but still she insisted and eventually he gave in.
"I know you have. But badness or not broken ribs can still kill you...
