CHAPTER 1: THE NEW EPIDEMIC

Tima and his family were in the hall watching television one evening. They decided to change the channel to British Broadcasting Channel ( BBC ) because they were bored. They saw on BBC a pandemic of a disease and Timo's father increased the volume to get more details. They heard from the news anchor about a new disease which is strange to the whole world and which originated from Africa. The news anchor continued saying it was from Somalian Pigs. Timo had heard from his teacher about Somalia being the most poor country in Africa and that most people there are carriers of many diseases. The next day, the World Health Organization ( WHO ) took samples from infected persons and animals. After a week, the test began and they learnt that it takes ten days after you have caught the disease to show symptoms which are continuous sneezing and coughing, flu, cold and headache. It was also observed that people with strong immune systems were able to recover quickly as compared to those with weaker immune systems. Later, WHO brought some information about how to prevent the disease and that it would take days of research to obtain a vaccine for the disease. Timo's mother after hearing all this suggested that they travel abroad.
