Him and Her (part 4)
Brent Riverworth was scared. He had to hide so many things from his best friend, it made him uncomfortable. It was like he was living a double life. Many times he thought about calling her again, explaining everything, but no. That couldnt be done. It would break her. Shatter her.
Elsie Riverstone was thinking. She needed to meet Brent in person, and sort out the mess between them. She knew she could get the money for a plane ticket, but she needed an excuse. So she called her parents and said "Mum, I need to go to another continent for a study project." Her mother agreed to buy her a ticket, but she need ed to know where to. So Elsie looked at her phone, and the friend request from a Brent Riverworth. She accepted it, and messaged him saying "Hey, this is Elsie, if you are the Brent I know, please tell me which city u are in."
Thankfully, it was the Brent Elsie knew and loved. He saw her message and responded with a single word, London. When Elsie read the message, she was overjoyed and asked her mother for the ticket. The ticket was bought and Elsie eagerly hopped on, but inside, she was terrified. She had had a life long fear of planes and flying, and this was her second time too. She took another leap of faith, and called Brent a few minutes before take off. She hurriedly whispered into the phone "Brent, I'm on a plane."
He responded instantly, because he spent half of the day waiting for her call. He said "Elsie, why are you on a plane. "
Elsie explained that she was coming to see him. Brent sighed. If only she knew....
"Okay, he said, you've done this before, imagine I'm there, and I'll hold your hand, calm down, and think of home."
She breathed, and calmed down eventually. Unable to contain her excitement, she thanked Brent, and put down the phone to look out the window. The ride was long and cramped, but Elsie kept her mind on her Brent, and the future. Soon, she arrived at the airport. There, in front of the arrivals line, stood a tall boy, smiling, with ashy hair and bright green eyes. Brent stood next to a girl, who was constantly leaning towards him. He recognised Elsie and ran to hug her. Elsie felt as though a thousand days of pain turned into one moment of pure joy.
Amidst the hugging and tears, the other girl coughed. Brent broke off and said "Elsie, this is Vicky, she's one of my fri-" but Vicky cut in and said "best friend."
