An Abandoned Manor Part 2
An Abandoned Manor Part 2

Inside the manor, it was quiet. Eerily so. Which was to be expected of a place no one lives in. It was a logical conclusion to come to, wasn't it?
Then why so doubtful? Do you believe that there IS something inhabiting the manor after all?
You'd probably think yourself crazy if you'd seen what was happening right now...you'd probably be petrified even.

As mentioned before, it was quiet inside. The keyword being "was". It won't be for very long.
It started gradually. A sound so soft you wouldn't have heard it if you were in a crowded room. Like people whispering at the same time. Though soft, the sound had the potential to grate on one's nerves.

The low-pitched whispering suddenly started getting louder. The softness turned into an earsplitting cackling, the unpleasant sound echoing through the manor. There was more than one source of this cacophony. Where did it come from or more importantly, who or what was making such noise?

The noise was so shrill that it could send shivers down your spine. Yet, there was no way to pinpoint where the sounds came from. It seemed as though the walls themselves where letting them out.
Albeit puzzling and disturbing, that wasn't the only strange occurrence in here.

Venturing further, there's a big room in the center. A living room, judging by the chairs and a table in one corner with a fireplace in the middle. In front of it, there were two armchairs. They looked comfortable, not a speck of dust on them. You could imagine the master of the house sitting there in the evening, reading a book or nursing a drink, staring into the crackling fire burning in the fireplace absentmindedly.

In fact, there was fire burning in a fireplace right this very moment. And an armchair was occupied...
