The narcissist lives their lives shielding, hiding and protecting their abused, and abusive nature; Because exposing it— with the truth, scares them all over again. The narcissist knows what they’re doing is wrong and abusive; But it doesn’t stop them from doing it, all over again. It gives them pleasure to hurt others the way they were hurt by others. But that doesn’t mean they want to ever be held accountable for it either! or to be reminded of how it makes someone feel. To feel that deeply repressed shame, would seek to make them accountable for their parents pain, the trauma they also gained. So they may understand their harsh, unkind ways?! But that would mean them feeling that pain, required to heal, all over again. The narcissist is an unveiling moment, a linger and surprise. Because deep down, they are protecting a narcissistically abused child… by parents who crafted that veil inside themselves too. But the dismay starts to shatter, when your eyes become open— to the fact it is intergenerational. Because the narcissist is ‘the dirty secret’, very common.
