To My Right: The Rollercoaster (1)
I have never ridden a rollercoaster before. All the people I heard telling about it, they described it as very scary but worth it. I don't know how something being scary would be worth it. I know about horror movies and games stuff but they never say right with me.
“Come on, dude, you are a boy,” my friends would always say. But I never changed. Gender doesn't impact your fear.

So today, right now, when I stand in the queue to the ride, my heart is pounding very hard and I’m just thinking about stepping back when I sit onto my seat.
People start swarming the seats and I notice my row of seat—three—is the very front one. Great. I sigh of the anticipation when the thing will start moving when a girl sits next to me.
I don’t pay much attention, because I’m having butterflies.
“Hey,” says a voice to my right. I turn and see the girl. For the first time I pay attention. She has short, straight, brown hair, startling green eyes and wears a white shirt and trousers. “First time?”
“Yeah,” I chuckle. “Kinda scared.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve been in this one many times.” She smiles. “It isn’t that fast.”
I shrug. “I hope so. Ha-ha.”
The rollercoaster starts moving, slowly and stiffly at first, but things get serious real quick. It starts going faster and faster and I hear really loud banging noise.
It slides down fastly and we’re going through a dark tunnel now. The banging of the rollercoaster doesn’t work in drowning out the many shouts, screams and “Woo-hoos” of the other passengers.
It’s so fast I’m scared and suddenly we are out in the daylight, passing a small forest, going 200km/h. And immediately my hand goes to the girl’s and we’re holding hands but she doesn’t seem to care.
I shriek, my other arm up and I realise I’m actually enjoying the ride.
Wow. This is cool. We pass a long lake, birds chirping which is nearly inaudible. I tilt my head sideways and catch a glance of the girl to my right.
If she has been here many times, I suspect it. She looks delighted, so happy. I realise she also looks really pretty, her green eyes which seem to shine and her short, brown hair—and all of a sudden we’re going through a tunnel again.
There are screeches of amusement and I laugh out loud, which I enjoy.
Soon after we pass the clouds the coaster starts to slow down and it eventually stops at the same place it began.
It seemed like a very short ride, but it was fun nonetheless. I pull my hand away and grin.
The girl next to me looks at me. “Wasn’t it fun?” she laughs.
“It was amazing!” I exclaim. I liked it, wait, no. I loved it.

We leave the coaster together and hang out for a while.
The girl’s name is Alex and I tell her my name (Ben). She’s 23, and I’m 22. She comes from Canada, and she came to America to fulfill her dream of becoming an actor. She likes to dance, fight (like, with a punching bag) and do somersaults. Basically, her name is Alex and she’s crazy, in a good way.
I realise I like her personality and we exchange numbers and we say we’ll meet at Frage’s Mounts, a small hill which is now a local tourist destination here in suburban New York, not so far from both of our places.
