After Dan had eaten and bathed, he was introduced to Jeds wife. She was busy sewing in the parlour sat in an old rocking chair by a roaring log fire.
She looked up at Jed and Dan through the spectacles perched on the end of her nose, Jed started to speak "Martha this is Dan, Dan this is my wife Martha" " please to meet you Martha" Dan said nervously.

Martha rose up from the rocking chair and walked towards Dan, Dan stumbled backwards and tried to hide behind Jed.
