furneral of a city: chapter 23 part 1
The largest house in Kies belonged to Thiago Schreiber. It was a hughe house in Mediterranean style. With Mediterranean facades, ornaments and decorations. Around the house layed hughe perfectly maintained gardens in Mediterranean style with Mediterranean plants. Thiago had eight qualified gardeners employed around the year, thousends of domestic servants, private chefs, chauffeurs, but he wasn't a spoiled egoist. He was just a successful, hardworking man from an equally successful family circle. He wasn't perfect, but he stood for his mistakes and that was more important. His wife, Emilia, was pretty. She had a Caribbean mother and German-Irish father. Emilia came from a really hughe family. She was the third of 17 siblings in the age between 59 to 22. She had 47 nieces and nephews, five aunts, two uncles, 29 cousins and that just on her mother's side. She wasn't from Thiagis social class when he met her, but she was very socially active, very humorous, an adventurer and was intelligent. Max knew Thiago could never be more happy with someone else, expect Emilia. Thiagos precious daughters were like own daughters for Max, who had never married. He could never be too proud of Gina, who was a boxing coach and had her own fighting school for girls. Avelina was like a vulnerable, delicate elf, whose wings were torn off and only in the last years slowly started to regrow. Max knew, that Avelina was Thiagos favourite since she was a baby. Personally Max had the best relationship with his oldest niece with Katrin, since Katrin was most similar in character to Max deceased mother Anita. Max was also very happy that Katrin had married Tom's son, Nico and was expecting a baby from him, a girl. Max was incredibly happy that he and Tom were able to establish blood relationship and that Tom was not only a best friend, but also a new brother to him.

In Thiagos house were already a lot of guests. Only closest family, but with Emilia family proportions it was good thing Thiagos house and gardens were so hughe. Max began to feel right out the family as soon as he entered one of the backyards. He was clearly the only introvert in the hughe family and the many people who greeted him and asked him how he was doing overwhelmed him, but he didn't make a bad appearance. Max put some chilli sparing ribs and some back ribs grilled in beer and brown sugar and some in honey and mustard grilled chicken and some potato salad, pineapple salsa and a green mango salad on his plate, after what he found a cozy place in the shade, next to Gina, with whom he quickly got into conversation.

"I don't know, I don't know what to talk to them about. They talk about money, politics, babies and chickens. I've never cared about money or politics, chickens? What am I supposed to do with chickens and babies, I've never had any romantic interests before, so why should I think about babies?"
Max looked at his niece.
"What else would you like to talk to them about?"
"You'd better aks me with whom. "
"With whom would you like to talk?"
"Max, I don't know if you understand, but I'm missing someone who has the same views as me, who is willing to set goals and challenge himself, someone who has priorities in life, but who doesn't build his life on career or love or family, but all his efforts are on self development and expansion of horizons, the search for inner balance. You know, just someone who cares about a healthy harmonious soul and body condition. Who is willing to fight for himself and live for himself."
Max smiled slightly. He put his hands on Gina's knee.
" My deer, you will find your true circle of friends someday. You'll find the people you belong to. I know you're independent. I really appreciate you are going your own way, even if it doesn't correspond to the traditions and norms in your environment."
"Thank you! Not that it bothers me. I just don't want any solid connection with anyone. I saw what he did to Avelina. I saw what he did to Katrin. I don't want that. I don't want to suffer like them. I don't want to give my energy to someone who would not appreciate it, who will let me down, who wil hurt me! I don't want anybody who doesn't see me as a person but only shares his life with me because of my father's money. I don't want that."
Max put his hand around her back.
"I understand you. After all you experienced it doesn't wonder me and I would probably share the same position, beeing you..."
