Rose
"Good grief she's gone"
I said with a sigh of relief, I never liked her...
I have always wished she would one day disappear and never return, and it was no secret.
She was the Miss goody to shoes, perfect in all things, and that alone grew my loathe for her...
I mean how can someone be so perfect to the fault?...
Her beauty is bewitching and breathtaking, she has these white sparkling teeth, and big brown eyes...
She has long thick black hair, and she is curvy...
I can go on and on...Astute, creative, quick-witted, and decisive, whatever decision taken by her, she already weighed the consequences...
She always had a clear vision of what she wanted without being aggressive, unlike someone I know...
Did I forget to mention that is she Athletic?
Affable and a perfectionist...
Rose has all you could want from a young lady.
On May 31st, Rose wasn't in class, everyone was worried and sad that she was absent, but not me...
I was so excited that she wasn't in my face, I didn't care everyone else thought of me as the villain and the complete opposite of her, the fact she wasn't there made me the happiest girl in school.
However, that was the first day of misery for me...
A week passed and Rose was still not in school, and strangely, I was to blame for it.
Someone had spread rumors that I had something to do with Rose's disappearance, and everyone believed it for the obvious reasons...
I know I didn't like her but I never wished she would disappear...
Okay, I did, once or twice...but that wasn't the point.
I had absolutely nothing to do with her disappearance...
I kept receiving tons of messages from the kids in class asking about the whereabouts of Rose...
I get weird stares each time I came to school, and I felt so uneasy...
I solemnly wished she would come to school at least once and tell them I had nothing to do with her disappearance.
A missing person report was filed by her parents...
And the police came to do the school to inquire about her, and I became a suspect.
All the kids in class said I had something to do with Rose's disappearance and they sounded so sure, all except Victor...
He told the police he saw me and Rose arguing a day before she went missing, and Rose left very angrily...
"Miss Stella right?"
The detective asked in an abrasive manner, as she drew nearer to me
" Yes ma'am, Stella James"
I said, my face went blank, then fear crossed my face...
"We got a report that you saw Rose a day before she went missing, why did you guys meet up?"
She said as her gazes were fixed on me
"She came to me," I said trembling inside
"She wanted to be friends with me, but I declined...
That was all, and we both parted ways"
I said as convincing as I could ever be, as she stared at me nonstop...
I darted my eyes from left to right to avoid making eye contact with her.
I was asked to return to the classroom, for the first time in my life, I felt so remorseful having ill thoughts against her...
I desperately wanted her to show up in school.
Instead of being in class, I went to the rooftop and cried my heart out...
A few minutes later I went back to class, and I saw a piece of paper on my desk, and "LIBRARY LOCKEROOM" was boldly written on it.
I pondered on what those words meant but I had no clue, I tossed the piece of paper into my bag and went home.
For some reason my heartfelt uneasy about the piece of paper I found on my desk, I took my jacket and a face cap and went back to school, it was 6 pm by the time I got to school.
I went straight to the school library, I opened the locker room, and I saw strands of hair...
However, those were not real hair...
I angrily slammed the door and a piece of paper fell out...
This time "ROSE" was inscribed on it...
It began to feel so weird, my body shook with fear and panic surged through me...
"Mrs. Helen"
I called out to the librarian in a cracking voice, to be sure I wasn't alone.
"Yes, is there anything I can help you with?"
She said smiling
"Uhmm... It's nothing ma'am"
I said as I faked a smile, I took a deep breath and left.
I couldn't understand why anyone would want me to go to the library and why Rose's name was written on a piece of paper.
After that day, I received a weird call...
The voice sounded so tense and more like a crying child...
And all it could hear was "Help" before the call was disconnected...
The next day, Victor approached me and said he was sorry...
Victor happens to be the most brilliant student in class after Rose.
I kept following him to know he was apologizing but he wouldn't say, all he said was he knows I had nothing to do with Rose's disappearance.
Having an alibi, I reached out to the police and requested to see them...
I told them I had an alibi that I had nothing to do with Rose, Victor was called in and was asked why he said he knows I wasn't involved but he backed out and said he knew nothing, and I was left alone again...
A week later, I stopped receiving weird calls, Rose was still nowhere to be found...
But we, however, found her school bag in my school locker, all covered in blood...
I fainted due to the shock, when I woke up, I was told that the blood on the bag was the blood of a cow...
I couldn't hold back the tears anymore, I cried to my heart content, I was sorry for hating her, engulfed by guilt, I thought I was paying for hating such a nice girl, there was no other way to explain why I had to be the one going through all these.
I kept praying to God that if she ever return I promise to be best friends with her, I just wanted her here...
A few minutes later, my phone rang...
And it was from a restricted number, and it said "Help" just like the last time...
"Who are you?"...
I asked, I was so eager to know...
"Library"
The tiny voice said, I could sense fear from its voice...
And once again, the call got disconnected.
It made no sense until I remembered I once received a piece of paper with the word library on it...
I went back to the library, opened the locker room, and saw her...
Her hands and feet were bound together, a tape around her mouth, and she had bruises all over her...
I found Rose locked up in the school locker room...
I called the police and they came to our rescue...
We found out that Mrs. Helen was behind Rose's disappearance, Victor her son was the one sending clues about her whereabouts since his mother threatened him not to say a word...
I wasn't the only one who disliked her for being perfect, Mrs. Helen hated her for being better than her son...
The reason why victor saw us the day she went missing was that he was following her, I couldn't find her in the closet first because his mom found out he said something to me, so she had to move her...
Rose suffered for being so perfect, Mrs. Helen was arrested, Victor was sent to Juvenile detention for not speaking up earlier,
While Rose and I became best of friends.
