The Gift called Sex - Part 2.

In almost all the religions procreation is considered something of a virtuous duty meant to be accomplished by adult humans of a fruitful age and children are either believed to be the purest essence of the God, the angels, re-incarnation of one’s ancestors or God’s own avatars.

Different religions vary regarding human sexual activity being enjoyed in exclusion from the procreation.

As far as Hinduism is concerned such a human sexual activity meant for seeking pleasure is very much encouraged as long as it’s ethical, it doesn’t separates itself from love, spirituality, or intimacy and it isn’t taken to any extreme!

It’s why the ancient Indian sages, saints and mystics of the old had divided human-life into four ‘Varna-Ashramas’ (4 stages of life) and four ‘Purusharthas’ (four duties of a human).

As per the four ‘Varna-Ashramas’ every human should spend the early twelve developmental years of their lives (after a child becomes capable of walking, uttering reasonable amount of words & understanding the basic concepts) in the first stage of life called ‘Brahmacharya’ (meaning Celibacy).
