GODLY ADORNMENT PART I

TEXT:
1Peter 3: 1-6 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not
the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of their wives; While they behold
your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that of outward adorning
of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the
heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the
sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in
God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham.
calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement."

KEY VERSE: Psalm 149:4 "For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek
with salvation."

THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD

Beloved we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God; don't be deceived by the world's dissatisfaction
of your beauty.

Psalm 139:14 "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous
are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

Psalm 90:17 "And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our
hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."

BEAUTIFICATION OF SALVATION

Psalm 132:16 "I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy."

Psalm 149:4 "For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

GODLY ADORNMENT

The inner beauty of man is of a higher value to God than the physical beauty. Our character is of a greater
price than our physical look. The garment of righteousness is far more important than the physical
clothes we wear.

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel. with shamefacedness and
sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls. or costly array: But (which becometh women
professing godliness) with good works"
I Timothy 2:9-10

Meaning of modest: (of a woman) Dressing or behaving so as to avoid impropriety or indecency,
especially to avoid attracting sexual attention. Of clothing not revealing or emphasizing a person's
figure."

Modest dress means that hemlines must be below the knee on sitting position.
