The Unseen Inhuman (Chapter 2)

Several days had passed. Life at the University was taking new turns. Lara and Anita were good friends now. They grew so fond of each other that they were always seen together...be it studying or practicing for play...or shopping.

That day when their usual classes were over for the day, both of them decided that they would stay till the evening in the library and work on a project. When their work got over, it was already dusk. The chirping birds were returning to their nests hurriedly, flapping their wings as fast as it could carry them. The sky was moving from reddish tint to the womb of darkness. The building was quiet, except for a few workers who were talking among themselves and closing up for the day.
They were moving out of the gate when Lara felt that someone was behind her. She turned around at once, but found no one. She stopped midway, her eyes in a desperate search for someone.

"Why are you standing here Lara? C'mon madam we are already late. Let's go now!" Anita said. "But...but I ....I think ....I think someone was here...Just a minute.." Lara was trying to convince her. "Yeah...yeah of course someone was here. But where's that person now? Vanished? Or is that a ghost? Lara I think some ghost is in love with you," laughing loudly "C'mon we'll meet that ghost later.Let's leave today...Bye Bye dear Gost sir....we'll take your leave," she pulled Lara by her hands and dragged her to come along with her.

There was a bush on the opposite road which seemed to move a bit. Anita was unaware but Lara noticed it while opening the gate. She looked at it...it seemed as if a pair of eyes were looking at her....but a second later she couldn't see anything. Meanwhile their cab arrived and they left for home.

Lara had a habit of writing about all the interesting things that happened during the day before she went to sleep. She was describing how some strange things happened...how those eyes vanished in the blink of an eye. She had seen such eyes before, though this was lot more red but there was definitely some resemblance. Suddenly her mind went to that stranger she had seen on her first day at University. These eyes were equally deep too. The only difference was this time these eyes showed another emotion Anger.
It was all very strange for her. If this was the same person, why could she not see him? Was he so quick to hide?

Immediately she gave Anita a call. It was quarter past 1 a.m. The night was pitch dark...it was a new moon night after all. After a few missed calls, Anita finally picked up her phone.

"What happened Lara? I'm too sleepy...please say fast whatever you are saying if it's important else we'll talk tomorrow morning."

"No no wait...please don't hang up. It's urgent. Do you know a guy of our University with Red eyes?"

"What the fuck??????? Are you for real Lara? You woke me up for this?" Anita sounded irritated. "I can't say anything right now. I'm just too sleepy. I'll give you the details of you Red Eyed guy tomorrow. Now please...you also sleep. Goodnight."

"Yeah...Goodnight Anita. See you tomorrow."
Lara told herself, "May be I am thinking too much. May be it's not him."

She had the habit of talking to her own self since childhood. She felt relaxed. Whenever she was sad or angry or worried, she would sit in a corner and start blabbering and then write her feelings on a piece of paper.

"But who is he? I've seen him just once but that day the way I felt when he touched me was something I've never experienced. Why am I not seeing him anymore now? Has he gone somewhere or was he just a visitor for one day? Why am I thinking of him so much? Why do I feel like I've a connection with him? Do I love him? Is this really love at first sight?" She blushed thinking about love. "I think I love you Mr. Red eyed stranger," she said aloud.

All of a sudden, shadow passed past her window. She got up to look for it. She felt like it was the same guy. No she hadn't seen whose shadow that was but it was like her heart spoke to her.

"Oh God Lara....control yourself. Why would he come to your house. And most importantly how would he know your house? Stop it....it was just your imagination. I think people also become mad in love," she convinced herself smiling, that there was no one at the window.

She came back to her study table and sat down. She looked at her diary again and wrote,

"Your eyes seem to cast a spell,
A spell that's a bond of blood, flesh and death;
That fire in them would consume my soul,
But still I want to love you till my last breath."

Switching off the lights she went to sleep. When she was alseep, the shadow was again at the window. Slowly and slowly.....it escaped into the darkness.......
