Status of my life
Aziz and Gaffar were the one
Who first poured me your wine
Made me addicted to it
Made me ask for more
Made me spark and shine
I stored a little of theirs
Bought some fresh from you
And served a little more
With an added flavor of mine
Such is the status of my life
Yes I obeyed Syed Gaffar
I drank the forbidden drink
Also stole and hid something
I drank my anger
Hiding my prostrations
I stole your blessings
You know I am not like the living dead
I am a drunkard more than alive
Such is the status of my life
Right before I could ask
I was rejected already
Its coz,
Every time that I have praised you
I have asked for my wishes to come true
For each of my prostrations
I have asked for favors in return from you
Such a hard lesson I have learnt
Getting apart from you
That I won’t eat of the heavenly tree again
Even if you allow me to,
Judge my faithfulness
After knowing all your secrets
I still keep saying just like Aziz
I am a drunkard, not your scribe
Such is the status of my life
Just a bit of honesty was it that I showed you
And you loved me for it so much,
All my sins and flaws you overlooked
I am in love with your style
But a bit of dishonesty of mine
Puts me into depression and anxiety
Refreshing my ignorant memories
Coz I am drunk more than alive
Such is the status of my life
Hurt me once again,
Reward me once again
For don’t let the fire in me douse
Don’t let my goose bumps relax
Don’t make me leave your house
I agree, I said many things
Heard Saw and understood many things
I memorized and wrote a few things
I realized when I read the Quran
I actually copied of you everything
Coz,
The limit at which,
The limit of your body ends
Begins the limit of your soul
So I followed my instincts
And I went through this
I went through that
When I went both ways
I cried a lot
Gave up and sat
Neither this is the way
Nor the way is that
There is a way in between
Where Saint Kabeer sat
Yes I am a copy cat
I copied the drunken master
To be drunk to stay alive
Such is the status of my life
I can hear the call of prayer by the great Bilal
Each time at the beginning of the prayer time
So I bowed I kneeled and prostrated
Now what do I do hearing the call of prayer
By these Imams at the end of the prayer time
Such is the status of my life
Don’t search for the imprints of my forehead
Down on the earth O! Chaste Sheikh
Also don’t look at my forehead
Searching for the black mark of faith
I have myself turned into the token of prayer
My intense prostrations, the earth they shake
I don’t have any grudges,
Against your idols O! Pundit
But these lifeless puppets also aint my friends
You won’t understand the specialty of this wine
O! Pundit, O! Priest, O! Sheikh
I can afford to lose the Heaven for it
A countless times
Such is the status of my life
Tests, that’s what I’m scared of
Once in such a test I failed,
And I’m still not finished
Serving the period for it
The test of this world
Is so damn hard,
Even the heavenly white stone
Turned black
Cracked and broke into pieces
Then I am but a mortal man
Yes! I am but a man
My body twenty six
My soul of trillion epochs
Satanic inclinations are less in me now
Only Godly inclinations I wanna allow
Are you invisible, of course not!
Whenever I peep into the mirror
I see you clearly looking at me
The reason why Allahi,
Whenever I sinned in the dark
I asked for your light,
To bear witness
Whenever I sinned
Seeking your merciful refuge
You being patient
Has turned me into a hypocrite
Turned me into an Idolater
Into a staunch Disbeliever
Judge now O! Allahi
Now that I have sinned,
The three greatest sins
Standing in the shadow of your mercy
Coz I am a drunkard more than alive
Such is the status of my life
Neither due to the fear of hell
Nor for the love of Bliss
My friendship with you
Begins from the moment I look at me
And ends at the moment I look at you
For I have crossed all the limits
And raised myself so high
There is no one here to mock
To disgrace to defy
I have crossed all the limits
And dropped myself so low
There is no sealed heart
No minds narrow
Coz I drank it, being alive
Such is the status of my life
There was just one eve
To feed Adam
The cursed fruit up in heaven
But down here I’m eating
In countless dozens
I am such a shameful sinner
Adam just ate one from the tree
And his faith was shaken
But I’m eating it on my own
Sitting on the cursed tree
Mocking at eve and Satan
I am a drunkard more than alive
Such is the status of my life
If I never asked you the reason
I was dropped on earth
Then how can I question you
For sending me to hell
It’s ok with me if I am granted hell
On every whip I will call you indeed
Hearing me scream your name
Your hell will be terrified of me
If I won’t be taken out immediately
I will start reciting your attribute
Of being, the most forgiving reverently
Even if then I won’t be promoted
To the heavenly yard
My constant chanting,
Will surely douse your hell
Turn it into a frozen graveyard
It’s alright with me
If you put me into hell
Coz if you analyze
People of Heaven will be too busy
Enjoying their pleasures and comforts
They will forget to praise your glory
Whereas you will hear me,
Screaming your name
No matter how hard I’m whipped
My trust and faith in you
Will always be the same
You know I am not like the living dead
I am a drunkard more than alive
Such is the status of my life
All those mistakes that were intently done
All those games that were played in the name of love
Those sins that were done innocently
Your concern your praises reverently
Some of the moments that were annoying
Huge moments of rejoicing
Those tears asking for forgiveness
Those acts of repentance
Your assurance of forgiving
Those sins repeated after being forgiven
Those days of sinning
Nights of repenting
Some acts of arrogance
Some acts of ignorance
To get tricked by Eve and Satan
Eating the cursed fruit again and again
Getting down on the earth
To repeat the same old story
Forgetting the punishment
Ignoring the history
Falling in love with you all over again
Cleaning the body rubbing out the stain
Missing you again and again
Weeping out loud bearing the pain
In every matter to swear on your name
To get a chance to become the image of you
And hide your own image from you
This is what I have been, this is what I am
This is who, I will be
No, I aint a saint,
No, I aint the living dead
I am Syed Sohail, the Alicoholic
A drunkard more than alive
Such is the status of my life
