One's Life Story by Kathleen Tonn

I was invited to a Christmas event at a retirement center. I was to sing and play the piano for residents who lived in the beautiful, brick building which overlooked a park. A bounty of snowflakes fell on the Evergreens encampment about the perrifery of the building. It is Christmas Day, and evening was approaching the quiet solitude of my surroundings.

Inside, evergreen boughs, ornaments, colored lighting and tinseled Christmas trees adorned the warmth of the interior as a fireplace crackled in the lobby. Soft voices spoke in surprisingly hushed tones. I imagined the people present did not want to disturb the holiness of the moment. I observed adult children hugging with their aged parent. A few small children toddled alongside the adults. Such a beautiful home with each of its four floors showcasing the majesty of Christmas. The Nativity, displaying Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, shepherds, angels, camels and oxen is the touchstone of the entire array of the Christmas ambiance.
