Mirror Mirror on the Wall
#WritcoStoryPrompt41
The mirror loomed over them as they traversed the hallways of the abandoned mansion. It was rumoured that no one came out alive from it.

But hardly anyone knew that it was the partial truth.

As Sarah led the group, Tom and Jack behind her kept an eye on what was happening at the back. The ceiling was a mirror so if anyone came from above, surely it would make a sound. Some sound.

It? Why not he or she? Jack grimaced at the thought.

They were cautious of every step, every movement around them. With the only torch in hand that had not run out of battery, they carefully moved ahead.

The bricked walls around them seemed to be alive and watching them. They could see a wooden door at the end of the passage. They had no other option but to be hopeful of finding a way out through it. 3 days within the mansion was more than enough to cause them worry. They had to get out now.

With constant worry running through his head, Jack stumbled upon a rock that was protruding from the floor and dashed into Sarah walking ahead of him.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"Yeah, sorry. I didn't see that rock on the floor."

"Which rock?"

Their path was clear. Jack looked around but couldn't find what he had hit.

"It was just there! I swear!"

"I guess we should keep moving. There's been enough eerie to deal with already."

Sarah and Jack agreed with Tom.

As they arrived at the door, Sarah pulled the metallic handle towards them. The door was heavy. She appealingly looked at the other two and gave the torch to Tom to hold. It took all three of them to pull at it, and then it started opening.

They were practically tugging at the handle when Tom glanced up at the mirror on the ceiling which was lit with the torch light. His hands lost the handle and he fell backwards on the floor.

"Hey, what happened to you now?" Jack shot at him.

Their mirror images were missing.

Tom moved the torch around on the mirror to see how it could happen. That is when he realised.

Their mirror images had stopped where Jack had stumbled upon that 'rock'. Tom in the mirror was holding the rock in his hands and smiling at Tom on the floor.
