KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, UNDERSTANDING IS SAFETY.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER UNDERSTANDING IS SAFETY.
I have come across many men of knowledge but it saddens my heart that many do not realize it is one thing to acquire knowledge and the other to have the right application of it.
Knowledge is simply acquired information which is truly power but without understanding it can jeopardize your safety. Knowledge can keep you, only for a while but understanding will extend it.
This reminds me about a moral story of the CEO of a company who wanted 100% participation of his staff in a symposium schudled for Sunday. The CEO needed 100% participation of his staff to help him acquire a certificate for his company.
Meanwhile, Justina, one of the staff was at aghast why Sunday of all days would be a day of choice to organize the symposium. Even though they were told three weeks prior the stipulated day, Justina made up her mind she wasn't going.
When the day of the event arrived, her boss was worried why Justina wasn't present. He rushed out to call her and asked in anticipation," Justina. Where are you and why are you not here?" She answered, "In the church sir and because I'm not coming" .
"But I need 100% of the participation of my staff". Her boss said persuasively, but She insisted she wasn't coming simply because Sunday wasn't part of her work days.
Justina has the information that the symposium needed 100% of staff to go ahead, but her boss has the understanding that Justina lacked.
The conversation continued over the phone. "No issue but the symposium will go ahead", said Justina's boss. She was shocked in surprise and asked how that could go on without 100% of staff participating. Her boss explained to her that, it was either she participated to have the 100% of participation or she had her appointment with the company terminated which would still result to 100% participation of staff.
Surprisingly! She told her boss she was on her way. Her boss asked why the change of mind. She said because no one explained to her about the 100% of participation the way he explained.
Don't be quick with knowledge, understanding is key. Never rely on half knwodlege of anything, but understand the little you know about them.
