Love, Divorce and Everything else
Chapter 8: Ryan and Myra
As soon as Myra saw him, she started blushing again and slowly walked towards his car. She heard Ryan gently giggling like a little kid. She thought if something was wrong and looked at her dress to make sure she looked okay, but Ryan kept giggling. Ignoring his giggle, she slowly opened the door of the car, gently sat inside next to him, and he looked at her, smiled, and said, 'Hi, Myra. You have no idea how great it feels to finally see you again.' Myra smiled back and said, 'Yes, I had been looking forward to seeing you too.' Myra caught Ryan giggling again and felt weird. She slowly asked him, 'What is it? Is there something on my face? You asked me to dress simply. Is there something wrong with my dress or my shoes? Tell me.' Ryan stopped giggling, looked into Myra's eyes, and said, 'No, Myra, you look perfect, more than I could have imagined. That dress looks perfect on you, and I just couldn't stop giggling because I couldn't believe unknowingly you figured out the plan of our perfect first date. Myra did not understand, and Ryan said, 'Don't worry, in about 2 hours, you would understand what I am saying, and we will laugh it out together.' Myra then changed the topic and asked Ryan, 'So, where are we going? I mean, we hardly know each other.' Ryan started driving and told Myra, 'Don't worry, you will love it, and the moment I saw you that day, I wanted to know everything about you.' Myra then asked Ryan, 'So, what do you do for a living?' Ryan replied, 'I have my own business, something closer to nature. I used to work as a lawyer but grew tired of that life and started something of my own that makes me happy. It became a success, and I enjoy it. What about you?' Myra was a little hesitant and said, 'So, Ryan, I need to tell you something. I had been married once, and he gave me a divorce. So, it took a lot of effort to put my life back together and start from scratch to where I am now. I work in Marketing at this huge firm, and my hard work and my hard work and efforts had paid off. People now look up to me for my style of working and my capabilities. It took me ages to get that confidence back, but I am happy.
Ryan took Myra's hand in his and gently kissed it. He said, 'It doesn't make a difference to me if you were divorced. I should actually thank the guy for being crazy enough to let a wonderful person like you go. But it's my pleasure to have met you by accident, and I will always thank my lucky stars for that.'
They looked at each other and smiled.
It was a 2-hour ride to the surprise venue for their first date, and they talked about everything. It was a beautiful day, slightly cloudy but perfect.
Soon they were outside the city, and the beautiful scenery was complementing the wonderful day. Suddenly, Ryan said, 'We are about to reach, my dear. I want you to please close your eyes—it's a surprise.'
She closed her eyes gently and felt the car taking a few turns until they stopped. She heard the door open on Ryan's side. He then walked up to her side, gently opened the door for her, grabbed her hand, and helped her out of the car while she still had her eyes closed. He then asked her to open her eyes. She gently opened them and was surprised to find themselves surrounded by land filled with strawberries; it looked beautiful. She then looked at her dress, looked at Ryan, and both of them started laughing. 'Oh, now I understand. This is so beautiful. Thank you, Ryan, for bringing me here,' she said. A guy then walked up to them with two big baskets and two pairs of scissors and said, 'Here you go, guys. Have a wonderful time picking strawberries from our farms.'
Ryan looked at Myra, held out his hand, and asked, 'Shall we go?' Myra gently placed her hand in his hand as she looked into his eyes, and they walked to the farm where they spent a few hours talking, picking strawberries, tasting them, and giggling. Myra thought to herself, 'Oh, what a wonderful day this was,' and a tear gently rolled down her cheek. Ryan gently wiped the tear from her cheek, looked into her eyes, and, as if the moment was meant to be, they kissed for the first time. It was magical and felt so right. Ryan then kissed Myra on the forehead and said, 'The day is not over yet. There is more.' He excitedly took Myra by the hand, and they walked into a beautiful open restaurant on the farm. It was decorated with flowers, and the restaurant was made of wood, and they held hands, enjoyed the music, shared a delicious lunch, and lovely wine together. It had been hours since they had sat there. It was almost dark, and the restaurant twinkled with twinkling little lights and light music. They spent the whole evening holding hands, kissing, and looking into each other's eyes.
Ryan then said, 'I hope you liked this, Myra. I hope you would like to see me again because I would love to see you again and again.' Myra smiled and gently said, 'I don't want this day to end. Thank you, Ryan. This was not what I was expecting, and this was a perfect day with you.' Ryan smiled and gently took Myra's hand and said, 'Thank you for agreeing to go out with me.' They kissed, and it was perfect.
