And that Sunday, I bought love!

And that Sunday I bought love....
I had to work that week in a row and to give a lil break from my schedule I went for a long drive with my dog, Ziku!
As the day kissed the dusk and the sun decided to roll down we too decided to move back to home..
On our way back at the busy traffic, 'a girl' ,prolly of 5 or 6 years old, knocked at the window glass of my car in her wrinkled hand with injuries and sun burn running here and there..
As I scrolled down the window and looked at the hungry child with a dozen balloons in her hand to sell I was astonished.

Not being able to sell a single balloon all day long ,the little girl frightened to go back to home, where her father and elder brother would be sure to beat her for incoming not a single penny all day long!
After conversing with the girl further , I came to know she's not interested in studies and her life-long work till date is to sell balloons. Throughout the day she's meant to run through the mid-streets ,throughfares and highways and beg people to buy her balloons...and at night she need to help her ill mother in household work.
Parental will, family pressures still bound children in some range to be illeterate.
She was in hurry to return to her slum, and showed hardly keen in listening to my words.
I bought a balloon and she left the spot within a blink of eyes..
Next Sunday , I met her at the same spot...She in ragged clothes, barefooted approached me again..I got down from the car and gave her three books before buying balloons.
She was quite astonished at the scene. She showed no interest at the books!
I talked to her and explained her the need to be literate in these days...she roughly talked to me and left the spot without the books and even selling a ballon..
Three weeks passed by with the same scenerio..she refused the books and I refused her balloons..
On one Sunday back again, she agreed my proposal, I took her to a park and taught her few lesson on how to write her name, hindi alphabets, numeric digits, and basic english words..
I asked her to take the books with her, and informed her that the next day I will buy balloons from her only when she succeed in her lessons.
Next morning I was long waiting at the street, and then I met her. She didn't get scope to prepare her lessons, and so I was bound to refuse buying balloons from her as per my vow!!
She continued the same for the following 2days..and on the third day she approached me with her lessons being mugged up! She succeeded in her task ,and I bought all her balloons with accurate price.
The same continued for next two months..
Well, before I ended up in meeting her parents, her father and elder brother met me, wrangled upon the decision to let her be educated.
'The girl' was a bright student as she caught up almost all lessons I taught her within few months.
After upteen discords, I finally succeeded in making them realize her bright future ,which is getting suppressed, hidden under her workloads.

With my transfer letter and Ziku(my only family member) I needed to fly to another State.
Hopefully 'She' resides in better a condition than where she used to live in. Maybe nowadays she's not deprived of her "Right To Education", maybe now she's blessed with sunday dinners with her family, Sunday outings, . Hopefully her family found a work for them rather than begging and bullying his wards into begging.

This lively experience taught me if WE, the educated citizens , introspect the life of these sort of children with love, kindness , responsibility, patience...we someday together would succeed in eradicating Illeteracy from our Nation
