Waveborn - Fifteen
I awoke at what felt like the middle of the night as the need to pee overtook me. How would I pee underwater? Was there a bathroom I could use? Delmare was entangled around me, his are wrapped protectively across my body as he nestled closer to me in his sleep.

“Delmare.” I said, slightly above a whisper as I shook his shoulder, “Delmare, wake up.”

He mumbled in his sleep, his voice sleepy as he sat up, “What, what’s wrong?”

“I have to pee.”

“You always have to pee.” He teased, rubbing his eyes as he tried to wake himself up.

“Well, I am peeing for two people.” I replied, pointedly as I stood, unraveling myself from the covers as Delmare followed me.

“That’s true,” he clipped as he led me into another room where a bathtub, toilet, and sink sat, looking completely new. “Go ahead and close the door.”

“Um, okay.” I said, doing as I was told and then suddenly the water drained as we both fell to the floor, breathing in oxygen, “What just happened?”

“My mother just drained the castle of water. She does it every once in a while, but lately she had been talking about making it permanent.” Delmare explained as he motioned towards the toilet as I immediately sat on the toilet.

I didn’t find it weird that he was here with me as I used the restroom but I was still trying to figure out how they could drain the castle in mere seconds. As I stood, I walked towards the sink, turning it after I hit it a few times, as the water gushed out of the faucet. Looking up at Delmare inquisitively he only smiled as I began to wash my hands.

“How do you guys have plumbing? Wouldn’t the water’s pressure be too much for it?” I asked, as I went to wrong the water out of my hair, only noticing as I touched it that my hair was entirely dry, “What the? Why am I not wet?”

“You are asking a lot of questions right now Annie.” He yawned, “Can I answer them in the morning?”

I purse’s my lips, looking away as I realized it was still in the middle of the night. But now I didn’t think I would be able to go back to sleep not that my mind was abuzz with hundreds of questions. I shook my head as I watched Delmare escape the bathroom and made his way back under the covers.

Sighing, I followed him, the blanket still warm as I laid on my back and stared at the ceiling. In mere seconds Delmare quickly fell asleep beside me, wrapping his arms around me as if begging me to follow in his footsteps back into the calming abyss of sleep. But for some reason, I couldn’t. My mind was busy, overwhelming with the events of the past few days and months that had filled my life and controlled my future. I needed to think, to process everything and I couldn’t while Delmare slept peacefully beside me.

Carefully exiting the bed, I casually unhooked a robe from the wardrobe, wrapping it securely around myself as I opened the bedroom door that led into the hallway. I winced as it squeaking, looking over at Delmare who still...
